Calling all boa constrictor enthusiasts!

I’m looking to put together a small group of people interested in searching for and observing island dwarf boa constrictors in their natural habitat later this fall. This is strictly an observation and photography trip; no animals will be collected or disturbed.

In case you were unaware, boas found on some of Belize's cayes—such as the Caye Caulker and Crawl Caye localities—are naturally occurring smaller versions of the mainland boa constrictor. Having adapted to tiny mangrove islands and limited food resources, these miniature boas typically reach only 3 to 5 feet in length.

These island boas possess unique physical and behavioural traits and face environmental challenges distinct from their mainland counterparts.

The tentative plan is to visit at least two separate cayes over four nights. This will not include Caye Caulker or Ambergris Caye, but instead focus on staying on smaller, uninhabited cayes.

I'm also looking for additional information on these elusive boas, as well as suggestions for cayes that may support populations of island dwarf boas.
