Are Your Photos Reflecting Your Brand’s Energy? ⚡️

Well, it’s Monday so I’ll give you a slight pass for today if the energy is low.

🤳🏼 It’s all about the vibes, right? The energy behind you and your brand is what attracts your audience, and photos are one of the most powerful ways to communicate that energy.

👩🏽‍💼👨🏻‍💼I’ve had clients come to me and say “I want something that feels professional,” but what they’re really looking for is authentic energy—something that feels like “them”.

We worked together on her branding session this past summer. Being a Virtual Administrator, it was important that we expressed a sense of productivity in all that she brings to her clients. You can see for yourself that her sense of energy is conveyed through her images.

Picture it 💭

🍯 Your product is a bottle of hot honey. It sits atop a flat piece of bark surrounded by wildflowers and honey bees in an expansive, sun-clearing in the forest. The bottle positioned so its deep amber color glows vibrantly in the sunlight. A small drizzle of honey slowly drips from the bottle’s edge, glistening in the warm light, and the honey’s viscous texture is captured as it flows smoothly, rich with a hint of fiery heat.

👍🏼 Of course this sounds amazing and of course this image would be a great way to evoke feeling and emotion in your audience. BUT if you were a product, would you want to pose amongst a forest of honey bees?? I wouldn’t!

There are times when just a simple “product headshot” on a white background will do the trick and is super useful to have in your image bank! Here’s why 👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽

👉 It’s a great way for your product to steal the spotlight. Your audience will be focused on it alone and it won’t be competing with other elements within the image.

👉 It creates a sense of simplicity. Your product will stand out, look clean and more sophisticated. When something is surrounded by white, it can take on light from all angles which helps to provide detail in all of its features. It can also enhance the colours and textures of your product.

👉 Products featured on a white background are media friendly and are perfect for use on websites and eCommerce. Why do you think Amazon requires that all products be featured on a pure white background?

⬜️ All this being said, there is a time and a place to tell the story of your product through imagery with detailed, colourful backgrounds and settings but having an image of your product on a clean and crisp white background is a tool you’ll find yourself reaching for again and again. I promise!

Meet Hannah, Digital Marketing Specialist with Bowda Creative Co., a veteran-owned, female-founded boutique agency offering bespoke digital marketing solutions. They combine creativity, strategy, and personalized service to empower their Canadian clientele.

Hannah joined the Bowda team this past summer and reached out to collaborate on creating images that not only capture her professional and fun-loving vibe but also the passion she has for helping brands shine in the digital space.

Let’s come together in celebrating the heart and soul of our community: our amazing local businesses! Throughout the month, I have been showcasing some of Rival’s recent brand photography sessions that highlights the unique stories and hard work behind these incredible ventures.

💆🏻‍♀️ I had the best time photographing Alyssa Leblanc, RMT Massage Therapist & Yoga Instructor with Choice Health Centre. Choice takes a collaborative, proactive, patient-directed and preventative approach to injury, pain, health, and wellness. Not only can they target your current health concerns, but they will work with you to develop a Plan to Thrive, unlock your health, and create long term thriving.

Alyssa is passionate about helping people understand the value and improving the longevity of their health and wellness. She enjoys incorporating movement into her treatments. This dynamic and holistic approach stems from an energy work background that includes such things as Usui Reiki, Cranial Sacral Therapy and Yoga.

🧘🏻‍♀️ We dove deep into the art of yoga photography and used the beautiful natural light from Choice’s Dartmouth clinic location to tell the story and celebrate the beauty of movement. Our aim was to capture peaceful energy, convey balance and promote mindfulness.

From legal to settlement support. Their comprehensive suite of AI tools are tailored specifically for immigrants and harnesses the power of artificial intelligence to streamline and optimize various aspects of the immigration process.

Founder, has a vision for I’m Canada that extends beyond the online community. By 2023, he has led the development of immigration AI applications to further support newcomers' journeys in Canada. Max envisions immigrants as future leaders driving Canada forward and is dedicated to making them successful by providing the necessary tools.

I collaborated with Max to craft a set of images reflecting his professionalism and reinforcing his commitment to I’m Canada’s immigrant community. These details were emphasized through tailored clothing choices, Halifax’s beautiful business locale and a visual narrative of team connection.

Lucinda is currently modifying Coastal’s brand and requested a series of corporate lifestyle images for her website and social media. It was important to Lucinda that these images reflect the east coast and the beautiful harbourside city of Halifax, Nova Scotia.
