The Razorbill probably sits among my all-time favorite birds. Derpy elegance at it's finest.

It was an incredible experience to finally see them last week off the coast of Peggys cove on Pearl island.

One of Nova Scotia's only colonies of puffins exists about an hours boat ride off the coast of Peggy's cove. I had a chance to visit this island with some wonderful friends yesterday and get a few shots of the incredible animals that call Pearl island home. This is a few shots of the puffins I managed to capture.

Along with the Atlantic puffins we saw Sheerwaters, Artic terns, Razorbills, Double crested and Great cormorants, a few species of gulls, Sandpipers and Seals.

Lots more pictures to come.

Love, on the fly.

Tree swallows never seem to slow down. Even in what started as a moment rest, there's always something that one (or two) can be doing. 🀷

The lovers share a meal.

I wasn't quick enough to capture this male Northern cardinal give his mate a choice seed via kiss but I still felt lucky to capture them together having this little snack break while gathering twigs for their nest.

Northern cardinals are socially monogamous and often mate for life. Although some pairs DO split and seek out new mates in between breeding seasons.

It's safe to say there would be a lot less people interested in and engaged with documenting, studying and protecting our natural world if it wasn't for the lifelong work of people like David Attenborough.

I can say for certain that my love and curiosity for nature has only been heightened throughout the years by the tireless work of this man, Jane Goodall, David Suzuki and countless others like them.

I don't usually mess with landscape photography that often (at least beyond taking the picture and forgetting about it haha) but when you're given a scene like this you just have to take advantage of it.
