She really is something, that Sam 🖤

This session was particularly special not only because I love the family I was taking these photos for, but also because they let me be the one to create such important artwork for them.

These photos are going with Sam's owners across the ocean to their new home in England... but Sam is not. She's 84 (dog) years old and the journey would be too stressful for her. These photos will hopefully provide some comfort when the distance prevents this family from being together.

This is why I do what I do. It's so much more than taking pictures. I want to create the artwork that travels to homes all over the world and makes people warm and happy and nostalgic and sad and all the things. I want to give people memories to proudly display.

Soulful eyes of the sweetest Sam

Sam was such a good model! She may be blind, but she can find her light and strike a pose like a Queen. I love that I caught this moment, Sam looking deep into my lens, classic head tilt, looking confused but actually aware of more than anyone.

Behind the scenes of my session with the sweetest Sam. At 12 years old, she's not a young pup by any means, but she's still got a lot of energy and she's so expressive! I had so much fun getting down to her level and capturing her charming personality.

It was such an honour to photograph this friend family! We had a great day shooting, laughing, spinning, talking about creative things, crossing bridges, pretending to be unicorns, and walking in the beautiful parks of St. Catharines.

As much as I love the beauty of the freshly fallen snow out my window today, I can't wait to get back to days like this.
