🚨Mid-week, behind-the-scenes honesty…
Many of you know most of this info, but there are new followers this season, so here's a refresh 😊
This year has already held a lot for our family. Some beautiful things. Some heavy things. And it’s made me slow down and really think about how I run this little business of mine.
Running a photography business as a mom is always a balance — between passion and practicality, between creativity and bedtime routines, between pouring into others and protecting time with my own family.
I charge what makes it worth leaving my kids, finding a sitter, and spending evenings at my computer instead of on the couch with them. I can’t give my work away for free — even if part of me sometimes wishes I could.
I don’t do this because I expect to be rolling in money. I do this because I love it. Photography is my creative outlet. It fills something in me that motherhood alone can’t. It stretches me, humbles me, and brings me so much joy.
I’m always learning. I don’t know everything—and I never will—but I promise to always do my best and be completely transparent.
I have a style. I know it’s not for everyone, and I’m completely secure in that. I want the people who book me to truly love my work for what it is. And if you’re looking for a different look or vibe, I’m always happy to point you toward someone who can give you exactly what you’re dreaming of.
Because at the end of the day, I want you to feel like you got what you hoped for—and more.
This season is going to look a little different for our family. We're so excited to be welcoming a new little one in mid-September, which means I'll be taking a short step back to focus on my family and recover.
One thing that's incredibly important to me is that no client ever feels like they're getting anything less than my very best. That's why, during late September and October, my talented friend Mandi of Terra Mer Photography will be partnering with me on some of our larger projects. This isn't because I'm lowering my standards—it's because I'm protecting them. I want every gallery, every interaction, and every experience to receive the time, care, and attention it deserves, even while I'm navigating this exciting new season.
I'm being very thoughtful about what I take on and how I structure things moving forward. I want every session I say yes to to feel intentional, unrushed, and truly incredible.
Thank you for valuing a small business. For valuing art. And for valuing the mama behind the camera. 🤍
