Morning Glory

🇪🇦 Hoy ha hecho un calor de pelotas por aquí (o para estar en pelotas más bien) así que no viene nada mal un poco de fresquito y he rescatado esta toma de hace años de la mañana más fría de mi vida a -20ºC. La foto es muy curiosa por el gran contraste en una mañana gélida. Además del lago congelado la luz entrante crea curiosos efectos y sombras e ilumina el hielo en suspensión. Además en la nube se crean efectos de intuyen efectos de dispersión tipo arco iris. Reconozco que es una foto rara pero me parece distinta. A ver si os gusta!

🇬🇧 It’s been scorching hot around here today, so a bit of a cool-down is welcome. I dug up this shot from years ago, taken on the coldest morning of my life at -20ºC. It’s a fascinating photo due to the striking contrast found on such a freezing morning. Beyond the frozen lake, the incoming light creates intriguing effects and shadows while illuminating the ice crystals suspended in the air. You can also make out rainbow-like light-scattering effects within the cloud. I admit it’s an unusual shot, but I find it unique. Let me know what you think!

Eclipsescape (English below)

🇪🇦 No quería perderme la oportunidad de hacer una foto de paisaje de la totalidad, un "eclipsescape" lo que me obligó a tirar con otra cámara y otro trípode y casi sin mirar pero creo que el resultado es bastante digno para estar a tantas cosas en casi dos minutos. Las imágenes (en realidad dos imágenes distintas en versión original y recortada) dejan constancia de una cierta luz que viene por los costados en la totalidad, y en especial en la segunda más luz por la derecha donde va a destapar el sol. Dicho todo esto no hay nada que sustituya a la sensación de ver el eclipse con tus propios ojos, algo que por supuesto también quise disfrutar. Diría que es el evento astronómico real más irreal que puede verse. Ver la corona con tus propios ojos y como se oscurece el paisaje, es muy muy especial.

🇬🇧 I didn't want to miss the chance to capture a landscape shot of totality —an "eclipsescape"— which meant shooting with a separate camera and tripod, almost without looking; still, I think the result is quite good considering I was dealing so many things in the span of barely two minutes. The images (actually two distinct shots, with respective cropped versions) reveal a certain light coming in from the sides during totality and, in the second shot, even more light from the right where the sun is about to re-emerge. That said, nothing compares to the experience of seeing the eclipse with your own eyes, something I naturally wanted to enjoy as well. I’d say it is the most surreal but real astronomical event you can witness. Seeing the corona with your own eyes and watching the landscape darken is very very special.

Diamonds in the Sky

🇪🇦 Hay cosas en la vida para las que nadie te prepara del todo y ver un eclipse total en directo desde un lugar privilegiado es algo que seguro no olvidaré y que espero poder repetir, un espectáculo BRUTAL 😎🤩🥲

En lo fotográfico, soy fotógrafo de paisaje y retrato e iba con un equipo demasiado justito en zoom para los primeros planos del sol. El resultado no es super profesional pero aun así estoy contento porque con algunos defectos de enfoque (maldigo la hora de quitar el filtro y que se te mueva todo), justo de resolución y con un evento que solo puedes practicar si acaso simulando no se puede pedir mucho más.

En las distintas fotos pueden verse:
1. Anillo de diamante, previo/posterior a la fase/total
2. Perlas de Baily, cuando el sol se cuela por la superficie irregular lunar justo antes/después de la fase total
3-4. Corona solar y llamarada en rojo (con algunas otra más pequeñas)

🇬🇧 There are things in life for which no one can fully prepare you, and witnessing a total eclipse in person from a prime location is an experience I will certainly never forget—and one I hope to repeat.

From a photographic standpoint, I'm a landscape and portrait photographer, and the zoom capabilities of the gear I brought were barely sufficient for close-ups of the sun. The results aren't professional, yet I’m happy with them; given the focusing issues (I curse the moment I had to remove the filter and the lens went out of focus), the limited resolution, and the fact that the event is impossible to practice for—save perhaps through simulations—you really couldn't ask for much more. The various photos show:
1. Diamond ring effect (occurring just before or after totality)
2. Baily's beads (sunlight peeking through the moon's rugged surface just before or after totality)
3-4. Solar corona and a red solar flare (along with a few smaller ones)
