This week didn’t look like wedding planning…

It looked like saving recipes
Thinking about how to organize our kitchen
Figuring out the rhythms of everyday life

And it made me realize—

I don’t just want to prepare for a wedding day
I want to feel ready for marriage

For those of you who are already married…

What’s something you wish you prepared for beforehand? 🤍

As a photographer, it’s also been reminding me—

The wedding day is just the beginning

And the moments that follow
the quiet, everyday, in-between ones
are just as meaningful

Those are the moments I’ve been loving capturing more of lately too ✨

I was a guest at a wedding this weekend…
and it reminded me of a few things I don’t want to forget.

The way the groom looked at her walking down the aisle
The calm, steady presence of the bride
The laughter and tears during open mic speeches
The way people showed up when plans had to change

It wasn’t the decor that stood out most

It was the people
The emotion
The meaning behind it all

As both a bride and a photographer…
this is what I want to hold onto

This week was all about getting organized.

Not because I need everything figured out right now…
but because I want to walk into this next season feeling calm, not behind.

Turning ideas into plans

Checking off the things I’ve been putting off

Sending the messages that take 5 minutes once I actually do them 😅

I know the next few months will be full —
with work and being closer to the wedding

And I don’t want to feel stressed going into it.

I want to feel present.
Ready.
Able to actually enjoy it

Because what I’ve seen as a photographer

It’s not about having nothing to worry about on your wedding day… it’s about taking care of things ahead of time so you can actually relax and enjoy it

So this is me getting organized now… so I can slow down later

I’ve started planning our ceremony setup… and it’s becoming one of my favorite parts.

We’re keeping things really minimal — on purpose.

Not because I don’t love beautiful details…
but because I don’t want anything to distract from what’s actually happening.

The covenant.
The worship.
The moment we’re stepping into.

So instead of filling the space,
we’re focusing on what will enhance it:

• Chairs in a horseshoe so we feel surrounded
• Open space (no arch) for more meaningful photo + video angles
• Flowers grown from my own garden 🌱
• Simple aisle details that elevate, not overwhelm

Because I’ve seen it as a photographer —
when things are simple, the emotion stands out so much more.

And that’s what I want to remember

(also… follow along on my stories if you want to watch my wedding flowers grow this summer 🌸)

This week brought me back to what really matters most.

We got to see our officiant — someone who has walked through so much of life with us — and it made everything feel a little more real.

Less about planning a wedding…
and more about preparing for our ceremony.

For us, that’s the most important part.

We want it to feel like us,
but ultimately point back to God
and the meaning behind what we’re stepping into.

Still in the early stages of planning it all…
but something we’re really excited to be intentional about.

And honestly — it’s a reminder I carry into every wedding I photograph:

The ceremony isn’t just something to get through
It’s where everything begins

Things I didn’t expect this week:

• You need a permit for a wedding tent
• Someone has to inspect it before the day
• And apparently… I need to plan my swimsuits around my dress 😅

There are so many little details you don’t think about
until you’re actually in it

And it’s made me realize how important it is
to have vendors who guide you through the process — not just show up

It’s something I care deeply about in my own business

Because when you feel prepared,
you can actually be present

I don’t know if it’s the weather getting nicer…
but it suddenly feels like everything is getting closer.

This week I started working on our “social hour”
and for the first time in a while… it felt a little overwhelming again.

Just that feeling of starting something new
and not fully knowing how it’s all going to come together yet.

But I’ve been here before.

At the beginning, everything felt big too —
and it all came together one small step at a time.

So I’m reminding myself (and maybe you too 🤍)
it doesn’t have to be figured out all at once.

It will come together.

6 months in 🤍

This season has looked a little different than I expected.

Slower at times
More intentional
And a lot more meaningful

Less about perfect plans
More about what actually lasts

If you’re newly engaged
take your time, trust your gut,
and let people show up for you 🤍

This week felt like a shift…
from planning details → to thinking about the experience.

We booked our cake (faux tier + real top 🙌)
Started our website
And created a map for our backyard wedding

Because I don’t want guests wondering where to go or where to park
I want it to feel seamless
So they can just be present with us 🤍

And honestly — that’s what I see as a photographer too:

The most meaningful weddings aren’t just beautiful
They’re thoughtful from start to finish

03/25/2026

This week started off feeling slow…
until I realized maybe it wasn’t supposed to stay that way.

I started working on our invitations which quickly turned into decisions about parking, timing, directions…and suddenly it feels like things are moving again.

But the biggest moment this week?

My maid of honor asking:
“Do you need help?”

And realizing… I haven’t really been asking for it.

Not because I don’t have support but because I thought I didn’t need it yet.

And now I’m realizing:
I don’t have to do this alone.

The brides who feel the most present on their wedding day aren’t the ones who carried everything themselves
they’re the ones who let people show up for them.

So this is your reminder 🤍
You’re allowed to invite people into this season too.
