Wow. It's been almost exactly 1 year to the date that I have posted on Facebook through this account. I never imagined when I began my photography journey, that somewhere it might have an ending. And although I have been quiet on here for the last year, as I've explored other options, I have truly missed all of my clients and the work that I have loved so dearly. Where have I been, you may be wondering.

Well, as my family has grown, I have found it harder and harder to spend time away from my own kids to spend time with other families instead. I have found it harder and harder to justify a Saturday away in the summer for a wedding, when my own kids are running through the sprinkler, learning how to play baseball, and all of the other joys that raising two very spirited boys brings.

So, I've been working online with different brands behind the scenes to help them grow their social media presence, in a more Monday to Friday type of gig. I've kept a very small number of clients, as I've photographed your families since the beginning, and truly you feel like family to me now. But I have taken on no new clients, no new weddings, & no videography. It's been strange to say the least, but it was the right move for this season of my life.

It wasn't something I really announced, and it may not be something that will last forever as the seasons of my life change, and the needs of my family change too. But today I just wanted to extend a true and honest thank you to everyone who has ever entrusted me to capture a moment in your life worth remembering: a wedding, a family event, a milestone, a birth, and all of the other reasons you sought my services.

I do miss you all, and I think about you, especially when I take on a small photography project (like the photos of the Gibsons who I photographed a few weeks ago that I am sharing here). I hope in the future I'll get to photograph you and your families again, and I look forward to that day, whenever it may be! 🥰

Note to myself: You don't need to buy a horse, you don't need to buy a horse, you don't need to buy a horse. I will repeat this over and over again because every time I see these photos, I need the reminder. My, this was such a lovely session, I'm still dreaming about it!

Pinch me, I must be dreaming. I have worked so hard on my craft this year: to create photographs that make you feel something when you see them, to go back to the roots of why I love photography to begin with. This session was the embodiment of that for me.

Cara Jean and family, thank you all so much for allowing me in to capture these breathtaking moments in your family's life, I will truly never forget this incredible session and the day we made magic together!

Sometimes I like to pretend my clients are in a painting, and create photographs that feel like living art. This was one of my favourite sessions of all time because I feel like I did just that.

P.S. If you have horses, call me! I want horses in all my sessions now 😂

Amanda & Cass had such a FUN idea for their engagement photos. They saw another couple drinking beers and celebrating their engagement session on a Tik Tok video, and said, "hey we love a good time, and how fun would it be to bring some beers to the party."

12 years as a photographer friends, so not much surprises me, but when Cass rolled up with a backpack with a 6-pack I was like, "this couple is going to be something else!" They did not disappoint. A great time was had ALL around! Amanda & Cass your wedding is going to be an absolute BLAST of a day, & I can't wait to capture those memories for you!!

Extended family sessions had my heart this summer. After covid, my view of family life has changed radically, as I'm sure a lot of other people's have too. Seeing family's be able to get together and spend time with one another honestly brings tears to my eyes. Knowing what we all went through to get to a point where we could just be around each other is astonishing and almost unbelievable, all at the same time.

Let alone this family, who has one son here, a daughter in Northern Alberta, and another all the way over in Australia. This session was a true celebration of what family love means, that it knows no borders, no distance, and no end. ❤️

Just a little more of this engagement bliss, because who doesn't want to remember how good THIS feeling is? Pre-wedding, planning the day of your dreams, imagining your lives together, holding hands because they're free to hold and not busy chasing after littles, just being in the moment with each other. I LOVE engagement photos ❤️

There is nothing like the intimacy that an engagement brings. The dawn of two lives being spun into one, forever transformed by love and trust and respect and all the foundational blocks for a beautiful marriage. I can feel the essence of that in these portraits, like a slow, steady heartbeat, silent yet strong, your love will carry you through.

Megan and Steven, I can't wait for your wedding next year (on my own anniversary!), to watch your two souls unite as one. Congratulations you two!

I am SO proud to say that this is my beautiful sister-in-law who is carrying my handsome nephew Ren in that gorgeous belly! I snuck her away from her hubby and kiddos for an evening to capture some intimate maternity portraits, and I was so happy I did!

Katherine, you are an amazing mama, and you give birth to the most beautiful babies I have ever seen, and I am SO blessed and grateful to call you family ❤️

This session hit close to home for me. I grew up with a single mom, and seeing the way Jemily loved on her daughter Amara, reminded me of the way my own mama loved on me as a kid.

Single motherhood is the toughest walk of all, and Jemily you are walking it with so much honour, self-respect and love, it was a beautiful thing to witness and to photograph ❤️

Some more gorgeous captures from Karli's extended family session. Jeannette, her mama, was nervous about borrowing this yellow dress from my client closet. I am SO glad she did, she radiates beauty in it!

There's nothing quite like a mothers love, a wife's love, and a family's love. I was so blessed to be able to capture all three in this extended family session ❤️

This has been the summer of extended family sessions! Karli, a beautiful bride of mine, had scheduled in some family photos 2 days before her wedding, when all of her siblings were in town together. It was so much fun getting to know everyone who would be in attendance at the wedding, and it made the wedding day feel that much more relaxed and easy-going.

I will truly miss this family and the memories we made together this summer. That's the hardest part of my job is that it's filled with a 1000 goodbye's, and just when you get to know someone and spend time with them, their session is over and you don't see them again until their next big milestone.

Don't get me wrong, I'm so grateful and happy to spend those important moments with them, but I truly love when we can pull it back to just focus on those relationships that matter most in their lives, and create beautiful art together like this. I was so lucky to get to photograph Karli and her family 3 times this summer, and I can't wait to work with all of them again in the future!

I'm definitely feeling sentimental today!

Where my story began

About 10 years ago I tried photographing my first wedding, and absolutely fell in love with photographing people. Fast forward about 8 years, 80 weddings, a husband of my own and a baby, and I decided to try making a wedding film for a friend. I fell in love with weddings all over again in a brand new way. I love making wedding films more than I can even tell you. While editing my first wedding film it was like I had an A-ha! moment, all the stars aligned, and I realized THIS is what I’m meant to be doing.

Telling your love story in such a genuine and authentic way, capturing all the moments that photographs miss, there is just something so beautiful about that. It fascinates me and keeps me dreaming of white dresses flowing on breezy summer days, while two people who are madly in love just bliss out with each other while the camera’s rolling. You honestly can’t beat it and I count my lucky stars every single time I am filming a wedding that THIS is what I get to do.

When I’m not working, you can find me hanging out with my family, doing crazy renovation projects (because I love to stay busy, much to my husbands dismay lol!), or walking our dogs down by the river bottom.
