For those of you patiently awaiting the annual lupine field photo sessions, the wait is finally coming to an end. After what feels like a slow start- likely thanks to some interesting weather patterns this spring, the first blooms are beginning to emerge.

I suspect we’re still a week or two away from seeing the fields in their full glory, but I was thrilled to spot a little splash of colour today. It’s a small sign that one of my favourite seasons is just around the corner.

Sometimes the best part is watching the first blooms appear and knowing what’s still to come. 💜🌿

Market in the Park is coming back to Miramichi Rockin’ River Fest, and we’re getting ready to fill the park with local talent, great food, unique products, community spirit, and festival energy! Happening in Queen Elizabeth Park, Downtown Newcastle

This is your chance to be part of one of Miramichi’s biggest summer weekends.

Market in the Park runs for THREE DAYS during the 2026 Miramichi Rockin’ River Fest:

Friday, July 24: 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Saturday, July 25: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Vendors may stay open until 10:00 PM on Saturday if they wish.
Sunday, July 26: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

We’re now accepting applications for:

• Community organizations
• Non-profits
• Festival-friendly products, services, and experiences

Vendor confirmation fees:

• Artisan / Craft Vendor: $50 for 1 day, $100 for 2 days, or $150 for 3 days
• Local Business / Retail Vendor: $100 for 1 day, $200 for 2 days, or $300 for 3 days
• Community Organization / Non-Profit: Free of charge

In 2012, my grandfather took me five hours from home to Vancouver for a photography trip I’ll never forget. Now that his service has passed, it feels right to finally share a few photos from it.

He had the whole trip planned around photography exhibits and galleries. The one artist I remember most is Fred Herzog because we talked about his work so many times over the years afterward. He always believed in my art, long before I fully believed in it myself.

Looking back now, I wish I could experience that trip again with the appreciation and perspective I have today. I remember being so inspired that I filled multiple memory cards with photos everywhere we went. This was before Lightroom, before editing apps, before I knew much about post-processing at all.

So these are a few straight-out-of-camera shots from 2012, imperfect, untouched, and deeply tied to a memory I’ll always carry with me. 🤍
