✨ The Bubble Nebula — NGC 7635 🔭✨

Floating in the constellation Cassiopeia, the breathtaking Bubble Nebula (NGC 7635) is one of the most fascinating emission nebulae in the night sky. Located roughly 7,100 to 11,000 light-years from Earth, this incredible cosmic structure is a beautiful example of how massive stars can shape the space around them.

At the heart of the nebula lies a massive, extremely hot star whose powerful stellar winds are blasting into the surrounding clouds of gas and dust. Over time, these winds have carved out the distinctive bubble-shaped shell that gives this nebula its name. 😍

🌌 Iris Nebula — A Cloudy Night of Astrophotography ☁️🔭✨

Yesterday’s weather forecast looked amazing for astrophotography, so a few of my astro friends and I headed out to our Bortle 4 location in Ontario to shoot some DSOs. For me, it’s only about a 45-minute drive, so it’s a pretty convenient spot. 😍

Everything went flawlessly at first. Setting up my gear went smoothly, and I started my imaging sequence early. But after about 30 minutes of imaging, I started seeing patches of clouds forming.

Then… BOOM! 💥☁️ The clouds completely covered the sky! 😅

After about 40 minutes, the sky cleared again, so my friends and I decided to go for a walk. During our walk, we started seeing patches of clouds again. Before long, the sky was covered with large patches of clouds. Then it cleared… and the clouds came back again.

Unfortunately, the sky never stayed clear long enough for a proper imaging session. 😅

But despite all the clouds, I still managed to collect 3 hours of data on the Iris Nebula and Ghost Nebula! 👻✨

Not exactly the night we were hoping for, but I’ll take those 3 hours! 😎🔭

Sometimes astrophotography is all about making the most of whatever the sky gives you. ☁️✨

🌌 The sky looks amazing here tonight! 👋 ✨🔭

I’m heading to Lancaster, Ontario, tonight for some DSO imaging, about a 50-minute drive from my home. 🔭✨

To all my fellow astrophotography friends, I hope you’re getting clear skies wherever you are tonight! If you’re planning to head out for some imaging, let me know...I’d love to know who else is out under the stars. 🌠

The skies in Lancaster are much darker than here in Montreal, which makes the drive totally worth it! 😄 I’m hoping to take advantage of the darker skies and capture some beautiful wide-field DSO targets tonight. 😉

If any of you who live closer to my area in Montreal want to join, you’re more than welcome! The more, the merrier! 😄🔭🌌

🌌 The Soul Nebula — IC 1848, also known as the “Baby Nebula” 👶✨

Another beautiful region of the night sky captured through my telescope! 🔭 🌠

Located in the constellation Cassiopeia, the Soul Nebula is a vast emission nebula glowing with the light of ionized hydrogen and other elements. Its intricate clouds of gas and dust create a stunning combination of bright emission regions, dark structures, and delicate filaments. 🤩

The nebula is often called the “Baby Nebula” because of its resemblance to a baby when viewed in certain orientations. It sits near its famous companion, the Heart Nebula (IC 1805), forming one of the most spectacular wide-field regions of the winter Milky Way. ❤️👶

✨🌌 The Dumbbell Nebula (M27): A Cosmic Masterpiece 🌌✨

Nestled in the constellation Vulpecula, the Dumbbell Nebula (M27) is one of the most beautiful and fascinating planetary nebulae in the night sky. Located approximately 1,360 light-years from Earth, this incredible object is the glowing remains of a dying star similar to our own Sun. ⭐

The Dumbbell Nebula was discovered by Charles Messier in 1764, making it the 27th object in the famous Messier catalog. 🤩

🌌 Lobster Claw, Bubble Nebula & the Brain Nebula — All in One Frame! ✨

One frame, packed with some of the most beautiful and fascinating regions of the Milky Way! 🌠 😍

This wide-field view brings together the Lobster Claw Nebula, Bubble Nebula, Northern Lagoon, along with several surrounding emission nebulae, star clusters, and dust-rich regions...all glowing against the incredible backdrop of our galaxy. 😍

I love how wide-field astrophotography allows you to capture not just a single target, but an entire neighborhood of cosmic treasures in one image. There’s always something new to discover when you zoom in and explore the details! 🔭📸 ✨

Captured with my 400mm setup on August 14 from one of my favorite astro spots under Bortle 4 skies. I processed the image to bring out the faint structures, intricate dust, and colorful nebulosity hidden throughout this incredible region of the Milky Way.

So many targets in one frame… and yet this is just a tiny piece of our galaxy! 🤩

🦑✨ The Squid Nebula (Ou4) 😍

One of the most fascinating and challenging targets in the night sky! ✨

The Squid Nebula, also known as Ou4, is an extremely faint bipolar nebula hidden within the much larger Flying Bat Nebula (Sh2-129) in the constellation Cepheus. 🦇🤩

Discovered in 2011 by French amateur astronomer Nicolas Outters, Ou4 is located approximately 2,300 light-years from Earth and stretches roughly 50 light-years across!

What makes this target so special is how incredibly faint the Squid Nebula is. Its beautiful blue-green glow is easily overwhelmed by the surrounding hydrogen emission from the Flying Bat Nebula, making it a real challenge to capture and process. 📸🔭✨

I captured this over multiple nights, from Bortle 3 all the way to my Bortle 9 backyard sky. ✨ More integration time really pays off with a target this faint. Hours of exposure help reveal the delicate, almost ghostly structure of Ou4 hiding inside the much brighter Flying Bat Nebula. 😍🤩

It was definitely a challenging target, but I’m really happy to finally bring out the Squid! 🦑💙✨

🌕🌘 Lunar Eclipse August 27, 2026✨📸

Last night, I captured the Partial Lunar Eclipse right from my place using my DSLR paired with a 200mm lens. 📷🔭

It was a beautiful sight watching the Earth’s shadow slowly move across the Moon, gradually covering part of its surface and creating that dramatic contrast between the bright, illuminated portion and the darker eclipsed region. 🌑✨

Nothing fancy—just my DSLR, a 200mm lens mounted on my carbon-fiber tripod, and a little patience waiting for the right moment. I didn’t set up my telescope because of the weather. 😊

Sometimes, you just have to work with what you have! It’s always amazing to look up at the night sky and capture these beautiful events right from home. 🌌❤️

✨Wolf’s Cave Nebula 🐺🌌✨

This is such a fascinating target in the Cepheus region, filled with delicate clouds of gas, dust, and faint structures that slowly reveal themselves with enough integration time. ✨

If you look closely toward the bottom-left corner, you may notice a couple of very faint and fascinating features hiding in the background. One of them is PK 111+11.1, also known as DeHt 5, a faint planetary nebula that can be incredibly challenging to capture because of its low surface brightness. 😍

Also visible in the same region is a delicate Hα filamentary ribbon, adding another layer of faint structure to this already amazing field.. These subtle features are easy to overlook, but they’re part of what makes wide-field astrophotography so rewarding...you never know what you’ll discover hiding in your data! 🔭✨

This entire field lies in the Cepheus region, an area packed with fascinating clouds of gas, dust, and countless stars.

Captured from my Bortle 4 spot and processed to bring out as much of these faint structures as possible. 🌌❤️

🌌 The Heart & Soul Nebula — IC 1805 & IC 1848 ❤️✨

Last Saturday night, after my primary target hid behind some electrical wires, I decided to slew over to the Heart and Soul Nebula and make the most of the clear skies.

The Heart Nebula (IC 1805) and Soul Nebula (IC 1848) are two spectacular emission nebulae located in the constellation Cassiopeia, roughly 7,500 light-years away. The Heart gets its name from its distinctive heart-shaped structure, while the Soul Nebula lies right beside it, creating an amazing wide-field composition. 🌌

With the Moon already asleep, I was able to push the exposure time and let the telescope run until about 4:30 AM. I managed to collect 108 minutes of data on this beautiful region. 😊

Imaging from a Bortle 9 backyard definitely makes things challenging, but every clear hour counts! I’ll come back to this target once my other project is finished. More data means better signal, less noise, and hopefully more detail to bring out during processing. 😍
