A look back at late May, when the bed hit its peak. Foxglove, lupines, catmint, and poppies all at once, that cottage-meets-Mediterranean abundance our mild Vancouver Island climate (zone 8b) makes possible. It never lasts long. What peaked in your garden this year? Take your thyme.

This is my favourite spot once the light goes. The gaura glows, the solar lights come up like little fireworks behind it...

This is my favourite spot once the light goes. The gaura glows, the solar lights come up like little fireworks behind it, and the whole hill goes still. Even the dry allium head is magical. What's your garden like after dark?
