❤️ Some dogs change your life, no matter how short their time with you.

This was Sam.

Sam came to us as our palliative foster. We knew from the very beginning that our time together would be far too short, but we also knew that every single day he had left deserved to be filled with love, comfort, and joy.

What we didn't expect was just how deeply this little bulldog would leave his paw prints on our hearts.

When I decided to photograph Sam, I wanted to remember him—his personality, his courage, his silly expressions, and the love he gave so freely despite everything he was facing. These photographs became the story of one incredibly brave little bulldog who taught us that life isn't measured by the number of days we have, but by the love we share while we're here 💜

Looking back now, I am beyond grateful we took the time to create these memories. They are some of my most treasured photographs.

In many ways, this was the session that changed everything for me. It was the moment I realized how powerful these photographs could be for families walking through one of life's hardest chapters. I knew then that I wanted to offer this gift to others—to help preserve the love, the connection, and the memories that will one day become priceless.

These sessions are never about saying goodbye. They're about celebrating a life that has mattered, honouring a bond that will never be broken, and creating memories that will be cherished forever.

I've been having fun playing with a white backdrop and some creative editing this week. It's easy to get carried away when your model is this cute!

This is our foster Chihuahua, Simon. He may only be a few pounds, but nobody has told him that!

Around here, he runs with the big dawgs, wrestles like a champion, and has the confidence of a Great Dane.

Rescue dogs have a way of stealing your heart 🩵

I spent some time in the studio today with the incredibly handsome Russell, and I just had to share one of my favourite images from our session. He was an absolute gentleman in front of the camera—calm, patient, and the very definition of a good boy.

I've always had a soft spot for rescue dogs and for the people who dedicate their time, love, and energy to giving them the second chance they deserve. When rescue is done with care and commitment, it changes lives.

And Russell? He's proof that some of the very best dogs are the ones who simply needed someone to believe in them!

❤️ Some moments deserve to be remembered forever.

This beautiful girl was Lola.

When Lola's family learned that their time together was becoming limited, they made the incredibly loving decision to book an end-of-life photography session. It wasn't about saying goodbye—it was about celebrating a life that had been filled with unconditional love, unwavering loyalty, and countless cherished memories.

These sessions are emotional, but they are also filled with smiles, gentle moments, quiet cuddles, and gratitude. They allow families to slow down, be present, and preserve the little details they never want to forget—the loving eyes, the greying muzzle, the familiar expression that has greeted them for years.

Photographs become more than pictures. They become treasured keepsakes that bring comfort long after our beloved companions are gone 💜

It was an absolute privilege to spend time with Lola and her family, helping them create memories they will hold close to their hearts forever.

If you have a senior pet or have received difficult news, know that these sessions are done with patience, compassion, and love. My goal is simply to tell your pet's story and preserve the bond you share, while there's still time to make those memories together.

It was such a joy to capture these precious first memories. From the adorable bear and bunny outfits to that sweet little face, every detail made this session extra special.

Those tiny fingers, sleepy smiles, and newborn snuggles don't last long, which is why I believe every family deserves beautiful photographs to remember them.

At Rooted Photography, one of my goals is to make newborn photography affordable for new families, because preserving these once-in-a-lifetime moments shouldn't be out of reach.
