O em geeeee, posting two days in a row, look at the dedication.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

One of my absolute favourite styles of photography is narrative, documentary shooting. This is where I will literally hang out with a family for a couple hours while they do their normal routine and shoot. The end result is quiet, beautiful, truly unposed moments such as this 👆🏽. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
📌⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Disclaimer: this style of shooting is also how I get all the beautiful captures of my family; Deen above is my little cousin, Kuruk is my pup. You will see lots of my fam mixed in amongst my shots. They are my biggest photography models. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🚸⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
HOWEVER, I gave no prompt. I did not set them up. Deen was not told to wear those colours, or to look a certain way. He was talking to me about dogs. He LOVES kuruk. He simply wandered over from breakfast and plunked himself down beside.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Often us photographers will say we capture “authentic”, “natural” moments, which is kind of a Half-Truth. In lifestyle photography there is always some element of “posing” or “setting up” a couple/person/family to get that “perfect shot”. We shoot for the “in between” - the shot where you’ve loosened up into the space, into yourselves, into the moment. The second of not being posed - within what is set up as a posed shot. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

📖 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Narrative or documentary photography is more akin to photo journalism. Like a national geographic photographer coming into your environment and capturing the beauty in your every day. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤗⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I personally would say this is my favourite shooting style. Hopefully, Once lockdown opens up and vaccines are more widespread, laws-depending, this is the primary form of photography I would like to focus into.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
