You’ll never make it out alive.
I know they’re not cheap by any means, but fast primes have been absolutely key to nailing a lot of my shots, ESPECIALLY in dark venues. My three go-to lenses are my RF 85mm f1.2 and 50mm f1.2, both L series, and my EF 35mm f1.4 Art, with the very occasional EF 14mm f1.8 Art lens when I’m feeling wild.
I also carry zooms with me but 2.8 can feel very slow, very fast with a fun and energetic band like . Those two extra stops alone can take something like 1/50sec shutter to 1/200sec. If you managed to get like 1/100sec with your f2.8, then you can pull off 1/400sec with f1.4. Each stop doubles the amount of light hitting the sensor, so you’d have to double your shutter speed to account for every stop of light gain.
If you were happy with your shutter speed, then you can bring down your ISO and get cleaner photos! Continuing with that two-stop example above, you can bring your ISO down from 3200 to 800 or 6400 to 1600. You just halve or double your ISO to gain or lose a stop.
All in all, fast lenses might limit you in focal length variety on the spot, but they easily make up for that with the extra light you gain. Worth the money in my opinion!
