I simply can't start sharing my adventures from summer of 2026 without starting with and The Lavender Sessions 🌸💜

For just a few short weeks, the lavender fields came alive in full bloom, becoming a backdrop for so much love, joy, laughter, and beautifully quiet moments.

Of course, nature had a few plans of its own! With faster-than-expected blooms, smoke, rain, and some unexpected goat guests 🐐, sessions didn't always go to plan. But everyone who stepped into the lavender fields did so with so much positivity, so much joy, and such beautiful love that those chaotic moments simply melted away.

And that's what I truly love about Manitoulin Farmstead's lavender fields. The sweet smell in the air, the soft purple flowers, the bees buzzing about; you can't help but feel calm surrounded by such beauty.

To everyone who stepped into the lavender fields this summer, thank you for trusting me to preserve a little piece of this season for you. I hope your photographs always bring you back to the feeling of those warm summer evenings (or cool summer mornings), surrounded by purple blooms and the people you love 🫶

I can't wait to see what memories we create in the lavender fields next year 💜

A few weeks back we held some pet minis in support of Manitoulin Pet Rescue. Thanks to everyone who came out, we were able to raise almost $500 for the rescue!

Plus, we got to spend the day with some absolutely adorable dogs (and a cat!).

Thank you also to E's for donating flower bouquets and The Flower Hutch for the adorable flower collar.

Looking forward to doing more of these in the future! Did someone say pumpkins? 🤔😉

In three weeks Manitoulin Pet Rescue and I will be doing some spring pet minis! 💐🐇🌷🐾

Sessions are just 15 minutes for $40 at the Mindemoya Community Hall, and all proceeds will go to Manitoulin Pet Rescue.

You will receive 5-10 digital photos along with a free 8x10 print!

I'm super excited to announce that Manitoulin Pet Rescue and I will be doing some spring mini sessions on April 25th at the Mindemoya Community Hall.

Sessions are 15 minutes for $40. You'll receive 5-10 and can bring up to 2 pets per slot. All proceeds will go to the rescue, and current Manitoulin Pet Rescue foster pets get free photos!

Plus, every session comes with a free 8x10 print, with options to purchase more.

I’m so excited to finally share these photos!

Over the course of last summer and fall, Melanie of the wonderful Feather & Fern Studio Suite and I spent time photographing her pottery in the places that inspire so much of her work, like the mossy forests of the Kagawong River Trail, the misty and ever beautiful Bridal Veil Falls, and the rugged rocky shores of Lake Huron.

It took a few months to bring it all together, but it was such a fun process – and a pretty great excuse to spend time in some of the most beautiful spots around Manitoulin!

As it's still chilly out (well, if the weather chooses to be, I guess 😅), I'm only advertising for short, 30-minute sessions for maximum 6 people at the moment, but I am certainly more than happy to discuss options to fit your needs 🫶

Fully edited images, quick turnaround, and loving moments captured. Plus, you can purchase prints directly through your online gallery and ship right to your door!

You know when you do something with the intent of practicing a specific skill and then immediately forget to practice said skill?

But hey, refining in post is part of the craft, too 😅

In all seriousness, breaking habits takes intention. I dragged my friend out in -15°C to focus on white balance and exposure control, and it was a good reminder of how automatic certain settings can become. Growth isn’t instant, but it is happening.

Also, sorry to Cece Baumann, your sacrifice is much appreciated 🫶

On the bright side, a new editing style just dropped for my portraiture 💅 and I’m loving where it’s heading.

Can we also talk about that lighting 😍 If you’re on Manitoulin, the Kagawong River Trail where the the bronze deer are is unreal, even in the middle of the afternoon. Walk towards the falls from the lower trail entrance and thank me later 😉
