The first hour after Erica & Michael said “I do”! 💍✨

First: a champagne toast to celebrate the newlyweds. 🥂

Next: a beautiful charcuterie board shared with their closest family and friends.

Then: a relaxed photo session to soak in the moment and capture memories they’ll cherish forever.

And finally: the sweetest “just married” send-off as they paddled away together in a canoe. 🛶

Such a perfect day. ✨

J + P’s wedding day last month felt effortless. These two arrived excited to get married and completely present for every moment. There were very few nerves, just lots of smiles!

Having recently moved to Ottawa, they knew they wanted to skip the stress of a big traditional wedding and focus on what mattered most: getting married. They even told us they had looked into a City Hall wedding, but loved that we offered a much more personal, intentional experience.

Congratulations to these two! We’re so honoured we got to be a small part of such a beautiful beginning. 🤍

Most couples don’t realize what’s actually driving the cost of a traditional wedding.

It’s usually not the dress, the photographer or even the flowers. It’s the guest list. The average 164-guest wedding in Ottawa now costs over $132,510.

Here’s where a big chunk of that budget goes:

- Catering & venue: $54,745
- Decor & florals: $32,494
- Photography: $7,539
- Videography: $7,006
- DJ: $4,259
- Hair & makeup: $3,282
- Invitations: $2,625
- Transportation, entertainment, cake, officiant, content creation... and the list goes on.

Now imagine spending $132,510 because that’s exactly the wedding you want. Amazing. But if you’re only planning a large wedding because it feels like the “default,” it might be worth exploring your options first.

Our Wedding Budget Calculator lets you estimate the cost of your dream wedding based on the vendors and services you actually want and compare it to a more intimate celebration if you’re curious. Link in bio!

Before you set your budget, run the numbers. You might be surprised by what you discover.

There’s a common misconception that micro-weddings and elopements are only for couples on a tight budget or those who don’t have the time to plan a traditional wedding, as if they’re somehow a “backup option.” But that’s simply not true. Choosing a smaller wedding isn’t “settling”. It’s choosing a different experience, an intentional and meaningful one. And if it feels like you’re settling, then it’s probably not the right fit for you… and that’s okay. The best wedding is the one that genuinely reflects what you want!

Just because a big wedding is the traditional choice doesn’t mean it’s the right choice for you. At the end of the day, your wedding is about celebrating YOUR love. So why not celebrate it in a way that feels authentic to YOU?

Find your perfect elopement location!

Slide 1: Pinhey Forest - A hidden gem tucked away in Ottawa’s west end, Pinhey Forest features beautiful sand dunes, towering trees, and a peaceful atmosphere. It’s secluded, incredibly scenic, and feels like you’ve escaped the city entirely.

Perfect for: Couples who want a private, nature-filled ceremony with an adventurous, outdoorsy vibe.

Slide 2: Strathcona Park - If you love the energy of the city but still want an intimate ceremony, Strathcona Park is the best of both worlds. Located between the Rideau Canal and downtown, you can exchange vows surrounded by greenery, then walk to your celebratory lunch or dinner afterward. It’s central, convenient, and surprisingly private.

Perfect for: Couples who want a romantic city elopement with everything just steps away.

Slide 3: Britannia Beach - One of Ottawa’s most beautiful waterfront locations, Britannia Beach offers sandy shores, stunning sunsets, and plenty of open space. With a nearby park (including an off-leash area for your dog), it’s one of the most versatile ceremony locations in the city.

Perfect for: Couples dreaming of a relaxed lakeside ceremony, especially if they want to include their pup in the celebration. 🐾

Micro-weddings are the new luxury. In a world where weddings can sometimes feel driven by trends, Pinterest boards, and endless inspiration, choosing intimacy is a luxury of its own. There’s so much pressure to have the perfect invitation stationary, the perfect floral arrangements and every tiny detail curated to perfection. But in the process, it’s easy to lose sight of what the day is truly about.

At the end of it all, your love is what matters most. Years from now, you may not remember every piece of decor, but you will remember how you felt…

J + L are married! Their day this past month at Britannia Beach was EVERYTHING. ✨🌊

Honestly, this may have been one of the most beautiful Sweet & Simple ceremonies we’ve ever had at Britannia Beach. These two travelled all the way from Cape Breton, leaving their farm and their little ones with their parents for a few days to make this happen. What started with a trip to Ottawa for a concert turned into something even more special: they found us and booked their elopement just two weeks before saying “I do.”

They wanted the day to be simple and stress-free. And from the moment we met them, you could feel how deeply they trusted the process. Here are some highlights!
