Me and my friends went to Torrance for a galaxy shoot since the forecast was clear skies and moon set around 9pm. which we thought was perfect night plus the weather is good, not humid nor too cold and no bugs. this make me check the Aurora Borealis forecast which says 5kp between 9pm-11pm. on our way when we exit hwy400 we saw a baby black bear! i've been to this place many times before but never had a chance encounter with a bear. i hope there are other photographers at the barrens. we catch up with a small car driving at southwood road with lots of twists and turns. i gave a good distance behind the small car. and I guess the driver was bothered with my light, he decided to flash the hazard light. we decided to pass the car. Me and my friends were hoping that will shoot the stars too so we can have company. after the twists and turns we arrived at Torrance Barrens Dark Sky Preserve. to our surprise the parking was full! some are on the side of the road like 1km of parking! OH MY! I wasn't expecting that! we quickly take our camera and tripod to look for a spot beside the lake. Much more to our surprise the are about 10-15 photographers who had already setup their tripods. we later learned that they were in a photography workshop. we managed to squeeze in while respecting each other, like minimize the light coz there are other photographers and you might ruin their shot. that's a mutual understanding. there are other people too who joined us watching the stars. the mood was happy and when the aurora borealis show up, everyone is excited! the stars are bright and i'm sure i see the smiles of the photographers although it was dark!
