Watching a flock of shorebirds move together in mid-air is pure poetry in motion. One second they’re feeding along the shoreline, and the next, the entire group lifts off, turning and banking in complete, effortless synchronization.

A pretty special sighting here in Saint John, New Brunswick.

This is a Snowy Egret—a bird you don’t come across very often around here, so seeing one flying across the marsh was definitely a moment I wasn’t expecting.

Snowy Egrets may look all graceful and elegant, but when they hunt, they can be surprisingly active! They often run through shallow water, flick their feet, and rapidly move their heads to scare or attract small fish and other prey.

And here's another cool part—they have bright yellow feet that stand out against their black legs.

Out enjoying some quiet time in nature and came across this little Solitary Sandpiper (Tringa solitaria).

The name definitely fits—it’s often seen foraging alone along the edges of ponds, wetlands, and muddy areas rather than hanging out in big flocks.

I love finding birds like this that you could easily walk right past if you’re not paying attention. Just one little bird, quietly doing its thing.

Spent some time at Irving Nature Park earlier and managed to catch a few of the wildlife along the way. Always nice when a walk turns into a little wildlife photography session.

Here are some of my favorites from today.

There’s something special about seeing a Northern Cardinal this close. ❤️🐦

That brilliant red plumage, the dark mask around the eyes, and that little seed caught in its beak — nature really does create some incredible moments.

Sometimes you don’t need a wide landscape to appreciate wildlife. Just getting close enough to notice the tiny details can tell an entirely different story.

**FUN FACT: Great Blue Heron!**

I captured this Great Blue Heron during one of my visits to **Irving Nature Park** here in Saint John.

Did you know? Great Blue Herons can stand **almost 4 feet tall** and have an impressive wingspan of up to **6 feet!** 😮

Even though they look calm and graceful, they’re actually incredibly patient hunters. They can stand perfectly still, watching the water, and then strike surprisingly fast when a fish or other small prey gets within reach.

One of my favourite things about photographing wildlife is how you can spend hours exploring and suddenly come across a moment like this. Nature never disappoints!

Spotted this little Savannah Sparrow perched up at 📍Irving Nature Park.

They're easy to overlook because of their size, but if you take a moment to watch them, you'll notice how beautiful their markings are. It's always fun finding the smaller birds while exploring the trails.

Caught this Great Blue Heron hanging out at Irving Nature Park. It stayed perfectly still for a while, then took off like nothing happened.

Always a good day when I get to spend some time outdoors and come home with a shot like this. Nature never disappoints. 📷🪶
