Got these pics today at work. Yes its a moth, but a pretty cool story......................................

That's a Cecropia moth — Cecropia moth, the largest native moth in North America.

A few features that make the identification clear:

Large size, often with a wingspan of 12–18 cm (5–7 inches).

Rust-red body with white bands on the abdomen.

Distinctive crescent-shaped white and red markings on the wings.

Large eye-like spots near the wing tips.

Feather-like antennae, especially prominent in males (visible in your photo).

Your photo is especially interesting because the moth appears to be resting on or very near its cocoon, suggesting it may have emerged recently.

Cecropia moths are harmless to people. Adult moths don't eat at all—they live only a week or two, focused on finding a mate and reproducing.

Beautiful capture, by the way. The detail in the antennae and wing markings is excellent.
