Just one of those fab moments that come along in photography📷. Have a great day.🌞
Iain Macmillan's iconic Abbey Road images were taken 57 years ago today on August the 8th 1969.
Macmillan was a prolific photographer but is perhaps best known for his 1969 series of images of The Beatles - one of which became the cover to their Abbey Road album.
A beautiful illustration of the power of photography - a simple, but iconic, scene that has been shared, recreated, parodied and studied millions of times around the world.
There were claims that the actual crossing was moved a few metres further away from the junction thirty or so years ago, but these were firmly disproved by researchers.
Even today hordes of tourists risk life, limb and the wrath of Uber drivers to recreate their own version on the crossing - indeed I wrote this post at 05:45 UK time - and they were already at it 🤣 - you can view their frequent efforts via the Abbey Road we**am, and I'll add a link to that in the comments section.
