School photos that don’t suck. They’re my favourites.

I’m a photographer and yet, I ALWAYS buy at least one copy of the photos that come home from school. You know the ones. The forced smiles. The weird expressions. The kids that actually don’t look a heck of a lot like themselves and you kind of wonder who they are?

But I still buy them. There is something kitschy about them. Almost like a right of passage.

But I ALSO make sure to document what they REALLY look like every year.

I am privileged to take bespoke school portraits for the preschool set and when I do, I always make sure to pop up the backdrop for my own kiddos as well.

Sometimes it’s challenging to take photos of your own kids, but it is ALWAYS worth it. I love seeing how their faces change year after year. I love grabbing a series of shots that I know will look good together on the wall or in an album.

And I love how fast this can be! I did all three girls including sibling photos in about 20 minutes - including frustrating mom moments that may or may not have included growling like my 4 year old.

Here is that growling 4 year old. Wolves and foxes have her heart and she has their spirit.

Truth be told, this has been on my heart (and slowly building momentum behind the scenes) for literally years. I’ve been creating and leaning on my meditation and spiritual practice for quite some time now. It’s been a pivotal piece (see what I did there??) of how I’ve become a happier, more chill human woman with a daily feeling of abundance and freedom. Yep. That’s a thing. 🎉 And it’s glorious.

I’ve realized, with a huge amount of clarity and a splash of urgency that I don’t want to keep this to myself. In fact, I literally can’t. It spills out of me every time I meditate. With every deep belly breath. Every time I say yes to myself.

So I’m taking what I’ve learned (including a shiny certification from the modern master himself, Deepak Chopra) and I’m channeling it into guidance for others who might need it. I’m teaching meditation and intuition strategies through my brand new digital biz creatively named: LisaTait.Co.

You may not see quite as much action over here on my LTP pages because I’m spending a little more time over on my new page: Lisa Tait (.co) (although who’s kidding who - I wasn’t super active here before!).
