Here's something you don't see every day...

A real, honest, no-foolin', 1954 Stratocaster!

Spotted at the Folkway Music booth at the Elmira Vintage Guitar Show last weekend.

Sure, it's had some reconstructive surgery. IIRC the story was that it had been converted into a double neck at some point in its 72 year history, and subsequently restored. But seriously...how many first year Strats have you seen in your lifetime?? Exactly!

1960 Gibson Les Paul SG Special, spotted at the Folkway Music booth.

This is an odd (but cool) one as it has a "Les Paul Junior" headstock logo. But it definitely left the factory as a Special...it's not a converted Junior. Best guess is someone at the factory stuck the wrong logo on it! To me that just makes it even cooler.

Ho hum...back to the grind. 😒

After an exciting weekend out at with my videographer/luthier/inlay master/fabricator/amp and pedal builder/craftsperson-of-all-trades and friend , I am now forced to settle back into my normal humdrum life, with only my Polaris White 1965 SG Special, 1961 Fender Concert, and 1965 Princeton Reverb to stave off the ennui and interminable boredom of existence for another day! 😉

I really wanna know...

Here's the coolest Tele I saw at on Sunday. The only problem is...I have no idea what it is? The dealer had not put a sign on it, and due to my crippling GAD and agoraphobia, I don't talk to strangers...so it remains a mystery! A very cool, Lake Placid Blue mystery!

If anyone out there knows what this guitar was, please let me know below!

The evidence...
- Fender-only decal (does not say "Telecaster")
- white tolex case (1963? Early 60s?)
- rosewood slab 'board (1959 to early 60s)
- single ply, 8 screw 'guard (1959 to 1963)
- LPB? LPB was offered as a custom colour in 1960 but I'm guessing this is a refin (an original LPB early 60s Tele would be WAY too valuable to set out at a guitar show!😉). Is this even LPB?

The belle of the ball...

Here's my favourite guitar from yesterday's shows. An immaculate 1964 Gibson SG standard in original alligator case, courtesy of .

There were plenty of cool guitars to see at yesterday's show, but I'm an SG guy at heart, and this pristine example in unfaded cherry finish is the pinnacle of dream guitars for me.

It was a fun show yesterday, cruising the show with my celebrity videographer , catching up tons of old friends I don't get much of a chance to see anymore, and meeting new ones!

Just over 7 years ago, on May 29, 2019, I got to see my friend Chris Turpin, , play for the first time, after many years of Instagram followation. He even used this guitar, a vintage Kay Speed Demon (purchased right here in Toronto at earlier that day) for a tune!

was supporting that day, and if you have been following his career, you know that Chris went on to collaborate with GVF's in . Check out their eponymous debut release and see their guitars in the latest .
