CONTACT is a Toronto based charitable organization dedicated to exhibiting, analyzing and celebrating photography and lens-based media through an annual festival that takes place every May.

We're heading into crunch time, preparing for photographer Mylissa Prisner's first solo show, happening through the month of April at The Grand Trunk in Parkdale Village, Toronto, Ontario.

I have fond memories of hanging out in my grandfather's gardens. At the home, "down south," he'd turned sections of the yard into vignettes - some mixed other places, others were based on his imagination. It was a magical place.

Amongst all of these gardens within a garden, he grew peonies. I loved those big, fluffy, pink flowers. I got the impression that Grandpa grew them because he liked watching the ants.

While ants aren't needed to grow peonies, they do have a unique relationship, from which both benefit. More on this in the comments.
