How is everyone doing out there?
I have not being posting since this all began because I’ve been really trying to collect myself and figure out what is going on. Here are some quarantine updates from me:
1. I was sick for 2-3 weeks, and it really threw me off of all sense of routine. I spoke with Telehealth nurses and had virtual appointment with a doctor. He diagnosed me as most likely having Covid, but I was not able to be tested because I had not travelled and I am not a front line worker. It’s three weeks after the first sign of symptoms for me and I am feeling a lot better. One thing that happened was I lost my sense of taste and smell, which I am still waiting to get back 100%
2. I am using this time to practice . This means that I am taking REALLY good care of myself on all levels. In this sense, I am enjoying the quiet downtime. I am doing workshops, journalling a bunch, continuing to work with my therapist, and deeply going inward.
3. I am also using this time to dive into learning about plant medicine at a rate that wasn’t possible during normal life. There are so many great webinars happening about this, and I am also savouring every page of Michael Pollan's book, How To Change Your Mind. It is fantastic. See my IG story - LegalizePlants - to learn about the federal petition (backed by an MP) for legalizing these medicines in Canada. I am loving the opportunity to be more actively involved in this movement.
4. I am extremely fortunate to have not lost my FT job and to be able to work from home. I am assisting many small business owners in Toronto with digital marketing, getting online, and opening online stores. The workload is higher than normal, and has been keeping me very busy. My company is funded by the city of Toronto and has expanded, as of this week, to be available to even more small business owners for free. My work feels very important right now.
5. In terms of photography, I have two new ventures that I am taking on during quarantine. I will be announcing these next week!
I hope you are all healthy and well. Lastly, I want to thank all of our front line workers and to everyone doing their part 💗
