If you're white, PLEASE read this.
For a while I've contemplated my voice at this time. My platform, and what I'd like it to be used for. And the simple fact is that if I'm not actively working to fight racism and our flawed system, I'm part of the problem.

No silence. No peace. Until there is justice. Black Lives Matter.
Worldwide protests have demonstrated that we are fed up. The police are not above the law. It is their duty to abide by it just as it is their duty to enforce it. If you or I stood by while a coworker murdered someone then we would be just as responsible. Sure, the offending officer is now being charged, but what of the three officers that watched for 9 minutes. Imagine how swift justice would have been if George Floyd had been white.
I urge you to see past the looting and property damage that is being overwhelming prioritized in the news. This is not the message, and this is not the movement. People are angry. People are desperate for change. For an end to incessant police brutality which overwhelmingly targets black people.
This message has been loud and clear. And yet the response from many police departments across the United States has been a show of force - tear gas, rubber bullets, and vehicular aggression. There have been many positive signs seen across the country as well, but it is only the beginning.
