When I met Christen last year I was so excited to meet a fellow q***r soul trying to make this photography thing work. The photography space is SO heteronormative and it felt great to meet someone who “got it” - from there I asked them to tag along to a few of my scheduled weddings as a second photographer and from the first one I could tell how well we worked together! We started talking about the lack of q***r representation in the wedding, romance and bo***ir photography industry, specifically, and the ideas just started flowing! This is when Lavender Menace Photography was born!
While doing photography solo has always been my speed, working with Christen felt like speaking shorthand with someone. We’re both neurodivergent baddies who love capturing REAL people in authentic ways, and together we really hit flow state. Even more, it started to help us realize how much recording these events and this love in beautiful portraiture was itself an act of resistance in a world that seems to be erasing us with a troubling speed. It’s why we chose Lavender Menace as our moniker, an homage to the q***r women in the feminist movement and 2SLGBTQIA+ community who fought for our rights, and our recognition. We refuse to be put back in a box, and we aim to let every q***r couple know that there are vendors out there who not only represent them, but understand their struggles and their joy on a molecular level.
Since then we’ve been quietly working behind the scenes for the last few months to build out our brand, conceptualize amazing events like and have SOO much in the pipeline we can’t wait to share with you! So please if you’re not already go give a follow otherwise you’ll miss all of the q***r joy!
