Some shots from friday’s trench edition.
Shooting film in this kind of environment and I almost switched to digital at the 11th hour. But I had a plan and I followed through.
This is some kodak vision 500t movie stock pretty expired and push processed x2.
Camera is the minolta a9 with a 35mm 1.4 lens.

I sat on these shots for awhile.
Taken right after my mother died while I was at the in 2024 sound designing ‘s production of Witness for the Prosecution.
It was overwhelming to organize everything from finding a will to what box she was going to be cremated in while trying to tech a show. It was very lonely and I had little to no support from the people I depended on at the time. It was also bittersweet because the show was an absolute career highlight. Designing there was a dream come true and the team and production could not have been more amazing. It felt like I was being punished somehow. In the midst of something so great professionally I was dealt something so painful and difficult.
So I did what I do and loaded up some film and tried to process.
I HATED these shots until I viewed them again last night. Had a cry because they somehow contain the feelings I held and didn’t have the time to process.
It was the beginning of something I thought would be a staircase up to new and exciting things but was the start of the darkest personal downward spiral I’ve ever experienced.
Glad I shot a few pictures and grateful to see them and have a moment to acknowledge the road I’ve been on.

Going through old shoots to prepare stuff for a new website and spent yesterday afternoon back
I used to shoot their monthly Friday night themed parties before it closed down.
Shooting there really was the bridge between my street photography work and shooting parties.
These are from 2019’s prom party.
I was working a vintage Minolta 28-70 f3.5 zoom on my much loved Sony a7.
Interesting how I shot more horizontally then. I almost always shoot in portrait now.
I loved shooting there❤️

It was so nurishing to spend time shooting .rope and .
We shot out two colour rolls, which sadly didnt yield any Images, after which we decided to use some black and white.
The more distance I have from the ruined colour shots the more I love the black and whites.
They tell a narrative and show honesty and relationship in a way I felt very grateful to be around and photograph.
There was venerability that I’m usually on the other side of when I shoot performances. Here it’s just the three of us talking art and life and painting on emulsion.

Found these while archiving old analog shots.
Me recording my boathouse album in the summer of ‘96.
These shots taken with my much loved Minolta xg-1 and it’s 50mm 2.8.
Ilford 400.
If there was a platonic form of my recording set up this would be it. 4tradk tascam mkii, GE cd player for a monitor, Sony sports Walkman earbuds for headphones. Two sure 58s. A handful of instruments and an old whirlpool bath for drums.
I wish I had all my old negatives but I’m grateful for the ones that have survived.
