Why am I posting just one photo of pretty cocktail drink you might ask?
Let me tell you:
I take immense personal pleasure in curating my Instagram grid. It amazes me every time how one image out of place can through the whole visual story off…but when it’s placed right, it just feels right…as if they belonged together all along. Each image elevating the other. They are better together.
In my instagram grid, I’m looking for the colour pallet of a grouping of images from completely different weddings and different places in the world to be harmonious. For the composition and leading lines of the images to bring the eye around in a pleasing flow, and the grouping of images from various photos spanning across the 18+ years of my career to tell a bigger story back to me; a collage of imagery that become a new work of art in my eyes. A work of heart really.
And, once created, I think of them often as if they were hanging on a wall in an art gallery. A grid of 15 images, coming together as one. Each image is so rich with memory for me; the couple, the emotions and connections between people, the quality of light that day, the laughter and the music and the food…and the love. For me, it’s infused into the very soul of each image from that wedding day and one image can take me back to it all. So you can image, as a grouping my senses are wonderfully overwhelmed with the collective memories of all the weddings each image belongs to.
As a whole, I look at the grouping and think they are perfect to me and I wouldn’t change a thing….and as anyone who creates things would understand, as an artist that is a difficult place to arrive; to be fully satisfied with what you just created.
What a life that I get to live; capturing the beauty of you all. That I get to be entrusted with your most romantic memories.
With all my heart, thank you.
