Last Monday we all got the exciting news that Ontario would be heading into “step one” earlier than expected. For lots of people, this meant they could finally enjoy drinks on a patio or stroll through their favourite Homesense again. But for Ashley & Brandon, it meant that their dream wedding (which had been postponed, put on pause, and adjusted more times than we can count) could finally happen that weekend. AND it could happen at their dream venue.

Planning a wedding is not an easy task to begin with, so the fact that they pulled this together in less than a week blew our minds. Their families, friends & vendors banded together and helped to bring the whole day to life. It was one of the most emotional and joyous celebrations we’ve ever been a part of. 💛

The first time we worked with Daksha and Fabian was for their engagement session in 2019. We left that session giddy with excitement, knowing that we’d be capturing their wedding the following spring. It was scheduled to be our first wedding of the 2020 season, but I’m sure you can fill in the blanks of how that went lol.

After postponing once, fast forward an entire year, and they recently had to make the same devastating decision again. But this time was different. They decided to postpone their celebration, but not their commitment to each other.

Yesterday we had the honour of both witnessing and documenting their union at City Hall. We felt an immense amount of privilege being there, knowing that if things were different they’d be in a room full of 100+ loved ones.

We are so inspired by their positivity and resilience in such hard times. Even planning this elopement was no easy task - it felt like there were wrenches thrown into their plans every week with confusing/changing restrictions that forced them to change venues multiple times. But they handled it all with grace, and in the end their day was perfect. 🖤

We are so excited to announce that we've re-branded from Shannon Robbins Photography to Shae & Evan!

Ever since we started dating in 2015, Evan has been my biggest supporter and helped shape the vision of what this business could be. He’s grown into many roles as my web developer, trusted second shooter, and the most incredible videographer.

Although it’s always been a dream to work together full-time, the timing never seemed right. His corporate job provided benefits, a competitive salary, a company car and professional growth. And after entering a global pandemic, the idea of going full-time as a photo & film duo felt even more unrealistic.

But day after day we were reminded that life is too short to live comfortably. So we decided to finally leap. We packed up our condo in the city & traded it for a room in my parent's house. Evan gave his 2-week notice at the end of 2020 and we rang in the New Year happier than ever. Our pipe dream had officially become a reality.

Over the last several months we've worked to bring our brand identity and vision to life. We are so happy to finally share it today! Thank you to everyone who has supported us in our journey so far, we can't wait to continue serving you with our whole hearts.

On October 1st, 2016 Evan and I had the honour of capturing Jasmine & Fervin's wedding day. Fast forward 4 years later, and I got to photograph them with their sweet baby Leo (who made my job very easy with those cheeky smiles!!). We have so much love for this lil fam

We’re wrapping up edits on all of our late summer weddings, and just feeling so dang grateful for the celebrations we were able to safely be a part of this year. 💚

Evan and I will forever be bonded to our 2020 couples — they gave us the chance to do what we love, stayed flexible in times of uncertainty, and always treated us as friends before “vendors”.

Despite all the stress & craziness of this year we had the privilege of making some pretty awesome memories along the way. Not only that, but these jobs allowed us to “keep our doors open”, to pay our bills, and continue operating our business into the coming year. And for that we are immensely grateful.

Sending love to all the mamas, step-moms, foster moms, grandmas, aunts, sisters and other women who help fulfil a motherly role. You are absolute rockstars. May your to-do list be empty and your wine glass full ;)

We also want to honour anyone who struggles with today. To those who have experienced the loss of their mother, or the loss of their child, to those with strained maternal relationships and to any women struggling to become mothers themselves... please know this: you are loved and you are valued. We are sending an extra dose of light & love your way.
