Last Chance to come and say goodbye to the Legendary Imperial Pub and The Library.
Join CAPIC and friends on November 12 at 7:30 pm for one last time to feel the nostalgia of our times, reminisce and enjoy a beer.
Throughout the years many photo and arts students frequented this renowned pub around the corner from Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU). Aka Ryerson.
After 81 years of supplying beer and a social environment for the community, the Imperial Pub and Library will close forever on November 15, 2025. The Imperial first opened in 1944 during World War 2.
Relive the Library’s inviting environment with beer, books, comfortable couches to lounge on and hear the jukebox with Jazz tunes from all the greats.

Posted • ✨Introducing Xposé NOIR: ELEMENTs of Freedom – Our Choice of Weapon ✨

CAPIC Toronto’s first-ever show within Xposé dedicated to celebrating the work of Black photo-based artists!

Curated by CAPIC Toronto member Felicia “FēB3A RBG” Byron ( / ) this powerful group show is part of XPOSÉ NOIR, a new curatorial initiative envisioned to carve space for Black photographic voices within the larger XPOSÉ annual fine art exhibition.

"It's title draws inspiration from Gordon Parks’ ( ) iconic quote — “I picked up a camera because it was my choice of weapons against what I hated most about the universe: racism, intolerance and poverty.” — and Kendrick Lamar’s ELEMENT. music video (which pays homage to Parks’ work), this exhibition brings together myself, and six brilliant Toronto-based Black photo artists, , , .maye
, and Peter Owusu-Ansah, whose practices span generations, communities, and creative disciplines.

This is my first curatorial project and a continuation of the Gordon Parks documentary screening and panel held during BHM with CAPIC Toronto. It’s been an honour to bring this vision to life and work with such phenomenal artists.

Special thanks to , , for the opportunity to be able to bring this vision to life! And last but not least, to our printing and finishing sponsor Bob Carnie / Silvershack Printmaking !"

📍 Now on view at Todmorden Mills Papermill Gallery until June 29th.

🖼️ Don’t miss it!

Posted • The spotlight today is on Gabriel Rebondy (), who took 1st & 2nd place in this year’s photography category with his striking series Inner Struggles.

His winning photo “Suffocating” evokes a powerful sense of tension and emotion, inviting viewers to reflect on themes of vulnerability and constraint.

“These were well-thought-out images, a well-executed concept,” noted the jury.

! Posted • Meet Mehdi Arad Habib Agahi, former GBCESL student and Success Coach.

***
Mehdi left GBCESL 12 years ago, but the impact he made on the community still lives on. Every time he visits the school, stories about his time here come to life.

Recently, Mehdi visited Unpacked: Honouring The Stories We Carry, the multimedia installation at Congress, where he contributed with his personal story and compelling photography. Those who knew him had nothing but positive things to say.

“One of the OGs,” someone said when introducing Mehdi. (OGs means someone who is considered an original or a pioneer in a particular field.)

“I landed in Tkaronto in 2009,” recalls Mehdi, who is originally from Iran. Tkaronto is a Mohawk word meaning “where there are trees standing in the water,” the traditional name for Toronto.

He was a dedicated student involved in the school community, and from 2010 to 2013, he was a Success Coach. “My most memorable moments are linked to the times I helped students empower themselves through learning,” says Mehdi.

That passion for supporting students led him to spend over a decade working in educational settings.

📸Photography: A Channel for Expression

One of Mehdi’s many strengths is photography. “Photography has been my creative outlet to explore and document my life journey,” he shares.

His work is now featured in XPOSÉ 2025, a Fine Art Photography exhibition in Toronto. Mehdi is showcasing three photographs from the MUSE series, “an artistic meta-challenge to connect and capture elements of handmade costume sculptures.”

The exhibition runs until June 24th. Learn more at .

Don’t miss your chance to visit XPOSÉ 2025, meet Mehdi, and be inspired by his and other photographers’ work.
