**Story time… 🤍**
The real reason every newborn photographed in my studio receives a timeless white background portrait.
Almost 10 years ago, my youngest son was born unexpectedly four weeks early. I was exhausted, swollen, overwhelmed, and trying to navigate those first days of motherhood all over again. He was jaundiced, breastfeeding was a struggle, and my maternity leave hadn't officially begun—I still had families and their newborns booked.
Just 10 days after giving birth, I was back in the studio with four children at home: a tween, a toddler, a barely one-year-old, and a newborn.
The thought of planning a full newborn session for my own baby felt impossible.
So instead, I did a little each day.
I laid him on a simple white blanket. No elaborate setup. No special outfit. Just my tiny baby in his diaper.
Then something incredible happened.
He stretched, curled, yawned, and moved in the quiet, beautiful way that only brand-new babies do. I captured his tiny details, his little expressions, and the simple way he existed in that fleeting season of life.
I fell completely in love with those images.
In that moment, I made a promise to myself.
From that day forward, every baby who comes into my studio would have these timeless portraits. No distractions. Just the pure beauty of who they are in their very first days.
Because every new mom and dad deserve to remember their baby exactly as they were.
This will always be my favourite photograph.
No fancy posing.
No elaborate styling.
Just my little boy... exactly as he was at eight days old. 🤍
