Good times I wish I took it serious. I did not like photography whatsoever. I was too busy skateboarding. I didn’t pick up a camera till I was 19 I think? Like I shot skateboarding with my homies here and there with their cameras. But my first camera was from my friend Harrison. It was his GH2 😵💫. I just shot skateboarding. Then the following year I think? I got a Pentax K1000.
I learned I like film a lot more. Maybe because they had cooler looking cameras lol. Also something about looking at prints and hoping for the best as so much fun. It was like a high? I would feel like I’m on top of the world every-time I nailed a shot.
I also learned how to read light in the end with no light meter considering I’ve shot every scenario that same year right? Only shooting 400 iso? It becomes repetitive. Film gives beautiful skin tones. So I really loved portraits.
I ripped off Daniel Arnold’s style completely lol. Just walking around for hours trying to get pictures of people just doing nothing. It was so much fun. Something about real life is so sick. Everything I shot back then was like a time capsule it’s interesting seeing people exist back then. Same as now? But everyone is so sensitive to cameras. We notice them a hell of a lot quicker and freak out.
Everyone nowadays has something to hide lol.
I used to shoot portraits full time at one point. I miss it. Would I do it again? Probably not but living off cup noodles and being 130 pounds? I was at my prime lol. I let myself go lowkey lol. But hey at least I could say I’m finally happy lol.
Shoutout my photography teacher. I probably would have gotten a higher grade if I didn’t have a class with all my homies.
