So it's been far too long since I posted here regularly. I have been struggling with my health (mental and physical) and as a result haven't been creating art for a while. I've started creating again, and intend to post things as I make them. That being said, my focus here will be exclusively on illness-related artwork. There will be videos of yours truly talking about art and illness, some of my artwork, and likely some artwork from others that inspire me. I want to sincerely thank you for sticking with me, and I hope you'll stick around a bit longer. Take care everybody.

From Greek mythology we know the story of Sisyphus where Sisyphus was punished by Zeus to forever push a boulder up a hill only to have it roll back down each time it got close to the top. Some take it to represent a person's persistent struggle against the absurdity of life. He persists at a task that will never be completed because 'this time might be different'. Others feel like it's a message that life itself has no meaning other than what you give it.

I've always seen it as a sort of groundhog day type struggle where you fight the same battles everyday and expect different results.

My version here of Sisyphus was meant to illustrate how it feels fighting a rare disease everyday with little hope. The same monotonous battle each and every day.

In writing this I've now realised that it could also represent never giving up and never losing hope. I love how art can teach us things, even the person that created it.

What do you think?

I created this image this past summer for someone very special to me. She was an incredible supporter through my struggles with PSC and lost a son to the same disease a number of years ago. I've always called her my PSC Mom as she treated me like one of her own. I printed the image and sent it to her in July. She unfortunately passed away suddenly earlier this month. I didn't realize at the time but had I waited I wouldn't have gotten to share it with her.

If you've been meaning to reach out to someone or do something kind etc., don't wait, do it now.

This one's for you PSC Mom. Love you.
