Today we celebrate the sweetest dog I've ever known. Phoebe turns 12 today and I've been so lucky to spend 9 1/2 of those years with her in my life. She's enriched me in more ways than I can say. I hope we have many more years together🖤🤍🖤

TINY: “My Fabulous Weirdo” contest runner up

Tiny’s story is anything but tiny. Almost 16 years old, this little MinPin mix has already lived a life full of adventure, resilience, and a ton of love. She started out in Tehran, Iran, the smallest pup in her litter, often squished under her bigger siblings. From the beginning, she was a fighter.

For her first 10 years, she called Iran home before moving with her family to Canada, where she’s continued her journey across provinces and through more challenges than most dogs (and their humans) ever face. Over the years, Tiny slowly lost her sight to disease, and eventually, both of her eyes had to be removed. Her family never let this little girl down, and true to her name, she has carried on with huge determination.

And let’s just talk about those EARS!! I think they balance what she no longer sees. Enormous and so expressive...they stole the show.

Her family lovingly calls her their “million-dollar baby,” not just because of all the health care she’s needed, but because of the joy she has brought them. Meeting and photographing Tiny was a privilege, and a reminder that “all good things come in small packages”.

Celebrate Tiny with me in the comments…what makes your dog wonderfully unique?

Meet Petunia, the WINNER of the 1st annual “My Fabulous Weirdo” dog competition! 🏆

When the contest closed, I reached out to her people to share the news that Petunia will be officially crowned THE MOST FABULOUS WEIRDO. Well if this wasn’t enough excitement for her, just one week later, she traveled to Sonoma, California to enter the prestigious World’s Ugliest Dog competition…and she won that contest also! A recently rescued, fabulous weirdo turned celebrity overnight!

Petunia’s story is extraordinary. She was rescued this past May from a cruel hoarding/breeding situation in Las Vegas where she had been confined to a crate, along with countless other dogs in the same situation. Thankfully, she was saved by Luvable Dog Rescue, a 55-acre woodland sanctuary in Eugene, Oregon.
Now, at just two years old, Petunia is thriving. Thanks to Liesl and Shannon at Luvable Dog Rescue and Wonky Dog, she is training to become a therapy dog and has taken on a new role as a philanthropist—shining a light on rescue and celebrating the beauty of wonderfully wonky dogs.

You can follow her journey (and the journeys of other incredible Luvable dogs) at and .

Stay tuned—the runner-ups in "My Fabulous Weirdo" contest will be revealed soon!

I can't believe we've reached September already! This month’s BC Children’s Hospital Pet Therapy calendar portrait features the radiant Sari as Dorothy, along with Zephyr the Golden Retriever as our not-so-cowardly lion, and Caesar the Shih-Poo as her ever-faithful Toto. Together they look toward Oz, imagining all the adventures and possibilities that lie ahead for them.

This project was always about more than just portraits…it’s about celebrating resilience, and the healing connections between people and dogs. This team was simply spectacular... wouldn't you agree?

If you’d like to bring a little storybook magic into your own portrait session, now is the perfect time to start planning. Send me a message and we can begin creating your own unforgettable portrait.

HECTOR & JIMINY CRICKET

Some birthdays, we give more than just a ‘present’…we give memories.

This year for Hector’s 80th, his wife surprised him with a portrait session alongside his best friend Jiminy Cricket, a delightful senior LhasaPoo (15 yrs young).

Jim Jam (one of his many nicknames) was adopted from the Maple Ridge SPCA when he was a youngster and has been living his best life ever since. These two share an unbreakable bond.

Hector wanted to include something else in the session close to his heart, so he brought his muskrat coat which was handed down to him by his father. This coat was made for his dad in the 1960’s by an Inuit woman in Aklavik NWT when he was working for the Department of Northern Affairs in Fort Smith. This is more than just a coat, it’s a family heirloom. I wanted to create a special portrait that honoured both the dog who’s been by his side for so long along with the history woven into his beautiful coat.

A session like this is a reminder: the things and beings we love most deserve to be remembered.

If you could be photographed with one sentimental item (with your dog of course), what would you choose?

AUGUST: This month’s portrait for the BCCH Pet Therapy calendar is a fairytale with a doodle-poodle twist.

I reimagined “Goldilocks and the Three Bears” starring a beautiful Goldilocks dishing out porridge to three fluffers, each perfectly cast as Papa Bear, Mama Bear and Baby Bear.

In all honestly, the session was a tad chaotic but definitely worth it, as I think it turned out to be magical. Thanks to the human mamas and papas behind the scenes, you were amazing doodle wranglers. I feel we created something very special. A special thanks to our Goldilocks, Kaia, who brought a special spark to August’s portrait 💛🤎🧡

Remember...flip your calendars today 📆

Papa Bear: Simba
Mama Bear: Whiskey
Baby Bear: Gaston

GEORGIE is 15 years old and has the largest tongue I've ever seen on a dog, and I've seen some tongues! She is the undisputed champion of Tongue Out Tuesday 👅 She was game for anything during her session, even loved having a fan blowing on her amazing ears.

Georgie may be in her golden years, but was still a sassy diva in front of the camera — and that tongue of hers is clearly living its best life.

If your dog is getting on in years, now is the perfect time to capture all the little things you never want to forget. I always make time for senior dogs.

DEVI would have turned 7 years old this past week.

A beautiful blond, deeply loved Indian Spitz rescue girl, deeply loved. When her family was given the unbearable news that she didn’t have many days left, they contacted me to see if I could photograph them as soon as possible. They came in the next morning.

Devi was weak, but she rallied throughout the session. It felt like she knew how meaningful this was and how treasured these portraits would be. She honestly gave it everything she had and if you swipe through you will see the memorable time we had together.

One week later, it was Devi’s time to say goodbye 💔

I only knew her for a few hours, but it was enough to see what a beautiful girl she was. Thank you and for trusting me with her story. RIP little one.

RAFAELLA, if you please...RAFFIE if she's feeling generous.

She's a high-society lady with low-to-the-ground charm. A connoisseur of fine cheese, pâtÊ, and whine... preferably French.

"Tu es belle," I whispered. She snorted.

Hard to say what she thought of her performance during our session together. French bulldogs keep their cards close...but I have to say, she definitely brought the drama.

GORDON
Most people love chocolate.
But everyone loves a chocolate Lab 🤎

Gordon is eleven years young and still winning over the gals like it’s his full-time job. He is a true gentleman, although quite the flirt. Basically a total chocolate stud!

If you’ve got a senior dog with big personality and even bigger charm, let’s capture them just like this.
