Just left Sardinia and already missing it. We spent most of our time in La Maddalena — quiet mornings by the water, long lunches, and evenings wandering the little streets — with one night in Olbia before heading home. I loved the food, the people, and trying to speak Italian every day. My favorites: “buonasera” (good evening), and the always useful “Ciao!”, and the always essential “Un cappuccino, per favore.”
Every night after a full day of being tourists, we’d crash in our hotel room and watch the Italian version of Wheel of Fortune. Somehow it was just as entertaining, even though I barely kept up with the words on the board. Sardinia was everything I hoped for — warm, relaxed, and full of charm. I was genuinely sad to leave.
