Chasing icebergs in Newfoundland & Labrador 🇨🇦

Every spring, giant icebergs break off glaciers in Greenland and begin a journey thousands of kilometers south, drifting down the coast of Labrador and Newfoundland. About 90% of the icebergs here started in Greenland, and some of them are over 10,000 years old.

Every iceberg is different and incredibly exhilarating to chase and watch transform! They can be white, electric blue, carry stranded polar bears, and can be bigger than buildings. 🧊They only visit for a few months each year before melting back into the Atlantic, which makes seeing one feel a little bit like spotting a unicorn. 🥹

and I lucked out with these two icebergs in Twillingate NL which were grounded for a few days (May 31- June 3rd). We spent days enjoying their grandeur through fog and freezing winds, and celebrated when one evening the icebergs turned pink and orange under this crazy sunset burn. 🥹💗

I always feel so lucky to be Canadian but something about seeing this part of Canada filled me with so much love and pride!!! 🇨🇦🤍 Newfoundland is so special and I can’t wait to be back to explore more 💙
