C & E’s 1 year anniversary session 🤍

I actually met these two last summer at friends birthday party so when C reached out wanting to do photos for their anniversary I was so excited!

We celebrated by going back to the spot they met and meandered along the same trail to the river the same way they did on their first date. These two were so comfy with one another like being with your best friend.

We often get asked what an elopement day actually looks like.

For S & J, it looked like a first look in a quiet forest next to a river. Driving to their ceremony spot just a few minutes down the road with their favourite songs playing. A fire that Sam and his friends built on the rock to keep them warm while they said their vows. A lake that doubled the sky behind them, and the handful of people they love most standing close enough to hear every word.

Our favourite officiant and planner helping them plan it all Jude, we love you. And coming forward as the venue to celebrate at after. Jae having worked with Kalli years back, and the whole team is just the sweetest. We love every chance we get to work with them.

So that’s what an elopement actually is. Just yours but filled with the people you love. Built with a small group of people who get it.

Thank you S & J for letting us in and allowing us to be part of your day 🤍

Hi, I’m Cam!! The other half of Summit & Sage.

Photography has actually been part of my life for a lot longer than people realize. I’ve been shooting seriously for about 10 years now, but long before that I was the kid with a camera on every family vacation. It runs in the family too… we’ve got cameras kicking around that date back to the 1920s, so I guess you could say it’s in the blood.

For a while though, it wasn’t the plan. I held a CFP (finance) designation and spent my days managing retirement portfolios, which sounds about as far from wild elopements in the mountains as you can get… and it was. I was good at it, but something never quite fit. I kept daydreaming about being outside, making something, telling stories that actually meant something. Eventually I stopped ignoring it and went all in on this instead. Still the best decision I’ve ever made.

I grew up on dad rock, summer camping trips, the Oregon coast, and way too many hours playing with sticks in the woods. I’m still happiest when I’m outside and a long way from cell service, preferably with a camera in hand and Abby somewhere nearby. The mountains have always been the place I feel most like myself, and getting to build a life and a business around them still doesn’t feel real some days.

I won’t get too far into the how and why of my work, you can swipe through the post for that. What I will say is that I care deeply about the people in front of my camera and the wild places we get to stand in together. That’s really the whole thing for me.

Outside of shoots you’ll probably find me planning a trip I can’t afford yet, cooking over a fire, or deep in a book about expeditions I’ll dream about. I’m obsessed with wild, quiet places and genuinely allergic to crowded tourist traps. I also have a very real fear of the deep ocean… cliff above it, we’re golden. In it? We need to talk.

If you’ve made it this far, hi! Thanks for readying and I hope this inspires you to do what makes you feel alive!

Figured it was about time we properly introduced ourselves!

Hi, I’m Abs and as Cam would say, I’m the heart behind Summit & Sage.

My journey into photography started on a girls trip. A friend handed me her camera and asked me to grab a few shots of her. Something clicked literally and figuratively. I’ve always been drawn to photography as a kid, would sneak off with my dad’s camera and play around with it, but life had other plans. I was busy chasing other dreams and honestly didn’t think I’d ever be that good at it.

That trip brought me back to it though. It sparked a passion project that became something that feels more like a calling, a way to capture life as it unfolds. The connections, the light, the moments that pass by but deserve to last forever.

I grew up in South Africa, spending time on my aunt’s private game farm surrounded by wild animals and the African bush. That shaped how I see the world and my connection to nature. When we moved to Canada it took me a long time to find that feeling again, but once I spent more time in the mountains, it came rushing back. Being able to combine my love for the outdoors with photography has been one of the greatest gifts.

I love food especially when it’s local, fresh, and made with love. I often edit to indie, dad rock, or vibey house music with a little African beats mixed in. I can be fully dressed up one day and in hiking boots the next, but I always come back to the coziest clothes with the stretchiest waistbands. I’ve been lucky enough to visit 22 countries and I’m always dreaming of the next one.

My deepest desire is to live a life I’m so damn proud of and hopefully inspire others to chase theirs dreams too.

We only get one life. Live it with intention, chase your wildest dreams, and respect the journey.
If you’ve made it this far thank you, genuinely.

I’d love to know what inspires you, and what drew you to our work? Drop it in the comments

Love, Abs 🤍

A & E surprise proposal 🤍

A reached out a couple of months before their trip to Van with a secret E had no idea about. Their last-minute Vancouver getaway was about to become something so much more.
What looked like just another city to explore together turned into the beginning of a whole new chapter.

We had the pleasure of playing tour guide and showing them around the city doing what they love most wandering, discovering, taking in the mix of Stanley Park’s wild beauty and the city humming around them. And then, tucked away in a quiet corner of the park, just the four of us, A got down on one knee.
The sunlight filtered through the trees. The world went still for a moment. And pure magic unfolded right in front of us.
Getting to step back and just witness this moment was everything.

We hold deeply that we got to be a very small part of your story, and we thank you for letting us be part of it in such a meaningful way. 🤍

Moody skies and mountain vows this one surprised us in all the best ways.

The day we had planned with A + C definitely didn’t turn out how we expected.
It was our first day in Banff the last weekend in May. It was hot, sunny, and bright blue skies. We were all so excited for golden hour and a perfect mountain sunset.

But as we pulled into the parking lot, it became clear we weren’t getting that sunset at all.

The wind picked up, clouds rolled in, and it suddenly started to rain. But A + C didn’t let that ruin the mood. If anything, they leaned into it Moody skies and mountain vows this one surprised us in all the best ways.

And honestly? It ended up being the perfect vibe. Quiet, moody, cinematic.

It may not have been the weather or light we imagined… but the photos we captured? Even better than we hoped. 🤍

If you’re dreaming of an elopement that embraces the moment rain, wind, and all we’re here for it. 🏔️✨
