More about why we created Next Gen Photography!

Why photography? 📷

Next Gen Photography, our newest social enterprise with Hope for Community Development, was built on three key social objectives:

1) Providing meaningful employment to high school students 💼

Our youth leaders recognized the difficulty of securing meaningful work and wanted to provide their peers with a unique employment experience. Many had younger siblings or neighbours they envisioned as our Next Gen Photographers!

2) Networking with business and charity leaders 👔

Through photography, our youth leaders believed that professional photography services provide exciting introductions to new nonprofits outside of their neighbourhood doing important work!

3) Skill development at an early age 🛠

Photography, creative storytelling, and customer relationships are essential for many of today's jobs. Providing our community's youth with transferrable skills at an early age will make them competitive as they apply to universities, trades programs, and other skilled roles.

If you love what Next Gen Photography stands for, please share our work with someone in the Waterloo Region who may be looking to hire photographers:

When you support this project, you are employing youth in our community and all profits are invested into community programming. We are looking to book two jobs this February!

📸 New Social Enterprise Announcement!!

This past summer, we designed and led a 12-week Advanced Entrepreneurship Program in partnership with Hope for Community Development (H4CD). They are a Kitchener nonprofit that creates transformational change for Black youth and families through education, programming and workshops.

Knowledge is best shared hands-on, so during class, we created the foundation for a real social enterprise while learning the theory of what makes one effective.

We learned through interviews that Chandler-Mowat's youth struggled with finding meaningful employment in high school, and there was also a strong desire to network with business and charity leaders outside of their neighbourhood.

On behalf of H4CD and the 12 youth leaders, we're proud to announce our newest social enterprise: Next Gen Photography

📸 Next Gen Photography is elevating the youth of today through the art of photography. This is your opportunity to creatively capture your organization's next event or project while simultaneously elevating and uplifting an entire community through meaningful employment.

We have two monthly photography slots available, and our youth have expressed enthusiasm for doing photography work for charity and business leaders in the Waterloo Region!

We'll be sharing lots more on this project, but in the meantime, here's how you can help!

1) If you know any charity or business leaders looking for photography services, consider sharing this post with them! Please help us get our new project off the ground 🌱

2) You can visit www.nextgenphotos.org to book our services directly. We have a transparent pricing model on our website and all profits earned support H4CD’s transformative programming work in Kitchener.

3) Let us know if you'd like to collaborate with us in any way! We'd love to hear your ideas on how we can grow this project and integrate it into our community 🎁
