The Croc's Eye Galaxy is in the Canes Venatici constellation and has two ring structures that astronomers do not understand how or why they formed.

The Leo Triplet is a group of spiral galaxies approximately 35 million light years away. They are gravitationally locked and are slowly reshaping each other.

A surfboard in space! The Surfboard Galaxy is a spiral galaxy seen partly edge on. It is 46 million light years away, which means we can only see what this galaxy looked like 46 million years ago because that is how long the starlight took to reach earth and land on my camera sensor or our eyeballs through a telescope. It is right "beside" a dying star known as the Owl Nebula, which resides in our own galaxy.

For stargazers, spring is known as galaxy season. Through the summer and winter months, our night sky is dominated by different parts of our own galaxy, the Milky Way, but in the spring, our night sky is dominated by distant galaxies as we are peering out into the universe in the constellations Leo, Virgo, Coma Bernices, and all around Ursa Major.

The Big Dipper, part of Ursa Major, is in the sky in the northern hemisphere all year round, but imaging this region is most favourable in the spring when it is high overhead. I'll be giving a galaxy tour each day for about a week or so of the hidden gems in this part of the sky. Today's is the Pinwheel Galaxy, a stunning spiral galaxy just above the handle of the Big Dipper.

Wow, this is incredible! Astronauts on Artemis 2 took this shot of the night side of earth lit up by the full moon. The auroa borealis and aurora australis can be seen and, I'm not sure, but the bright star up to the left could be Venus.

Artemis 2 is on it's way to the moon! I hope the astronauts have an amazing journey and make it back safely!

The blood moon is coming in the early hours of Tuesday morning, you'll have to stay up late Monday or set your alarm. From my location in British Columbia, the eclipse will start around 2am with totality happening around 3am. It will have an orange/red hue due to sunlight being refracted by Earth's atmosphere. I can only hope for the forecast to change to be able to see this one.
