MISSING YOUTH

Emma does have ties to our community in Williams Lake. She did attend school here, and could possibly show up. Please keep an eye out and let’s hope we can find her and get her home safe.

Missing Girl in Kamloops, British Columbia: 16-year-old Emma Worthington did not return home as expected on Wednesday, August 19.

She is Caucasian, about 5’11”, 120 pounds, with long dark hair and blue eyes. Frontline officers have made significant efforts to locate her but she has not been found.

Any information about her whereabouts can be reported to Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and cite file 2026-27562.

If you haven’t had a chance to take part in Downtown Williams Lake Art Walk, it is half over! September 9th is the last day.

Time is flying by, and our extra long Art Walk calendar is half finished already. Do you have a fun game, craft, activity or interactive Halloween experience to share with local families?

The City of Williams Lake is inviting community organizations, non-profits, clubs and service groups to help create a fun-filled Halloween evening at the Annual Halloween Fireworks event at the Williams Lake Stampede Grounds.

We're looking for family-friendly activities to take place in the Let 'R' Buck Saloon from 5 to 7 p.m., before the bonfire and fireworks begin.

Spaces are limited, so interested groups are encouraged to apply early.

Community connections can make a meaningful difference for children, youth, and families.

This week, our community appreciation campaign recognizes Thompson Rivers University - Williams Lake Campus and the important role they play in our region.

Our team stopped by TRU with one of our handmade pencil holders as a small gesture of appreciation. We’re grateful to have organizations like TRU contributing to the opportunities, learning, and resources available within our community.

Building strong connections between local organizations helps create a community where children, youth, and families have more opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive.

Our Williams Lake Public Library will be closing at the end of August for renovations. Reopening November 3.

Big changes are coming to the Williams Lake Library this fall.

The Cariboo Regional District’s Williams Lake Library will temporarily close beginning Sunday, August 30, while renovations are completed at the branch. The last day the library will be open before the closure is Saturday, August 29, and the branch is scheduled to reopen Tuesday, November 3.

We know a temporary closure is a big change for our community, so library staff will continue providing limited services through pop-up libraries outside the library during the closure.

Pop-up library services will run from September 8 to October 16, offering a limited selection of books, DVDs and audiobooks, as well as hold pickup and assistance placing new holds.

Tuesdays: September 8, 15, 22, 29 and October 6 and 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Wednesdays: September 9, 16, 23 and October 7 and 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Fridays: September 11, 18, 25 and October 2, 9 and 16 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Please note that patrons are asked to keep all checked-out library materials during the closure. Items will be automatically extended, no overdue fines will accrue, and patron accounts will be automatically renewed.

Digital library resources, including eBooks, audiobooks, newspapers and research tools, will also remain available throughout the closure.

We appreciate your patience as we complete these renovations and look forward to welcoming you back to the renovated Williams Lake Library in November.
