This year for our annual dinner we are going to try something a little bit different.

Southwest Delta is inviting people who come to the dinner on January 31st to bring a duck hobby display of local talents and unique items such carved decoys, artwork, crafts, photos of personal memories or maybe even a special waterfowl mount you have. These items are intended for display and viewing and not for selling purposes.(Though we are always willing to throw an item into our live auction at the request of the owner)

History and long standing traditions are a main staple of our hunting heritage and it’s a way for hunters new and old to share what is or was special to them. If anyone would like to bring an item with them please private message us or call Greg Barnes at 705-497-6494.

Great news!! Sunday hunting till the end of December!!

Deltawaterfowl has been working on this file for a longtime. Great news

Today our government announced changes to the General Wildlife Regulations that will come into effect on October 1st.

Amendments to the General Wildlife Regulations, Bear Harvesting Regulations and Deer Hunting Regulations will:
— add 11 more Sundays per year when hunting is permitted
— add one week to the end of general deer hunting season annually
— reduce the minimum age from 16 to 12 for hunting deer and bear, consistent with hunting small game (youth under 18 must still hunt under direct supervision of a licensed adult hunter)

New Date: September 6th

With the province of NS fire ban the highland gunclub is closed until further notice. This means that the deltawaterfowl youth day is postponed until further notice. The committee will meet and figure out a suitable date. If it’s not a flood it’s a darn drought!!

South west Delta is having their annual youth day on September 6th now as it was postponed. Still at the highland gunclub in Yarmouth.The event starts at 930am till 130 pm. it’s open to youth 10-17 and you can register by texting Calvin at 902-740-0565. If you have already registered then you are still on the list for September 6th. let us know if you can’t make it. it’s free and includes lunch.Shooting instruction and hunting related education session are on the agenda. prizes to be won!! A quick trip on Chesapeake island to change batteries in our game cameras this morning!! Almost all our 20 plus Shelters had nest with eggs in them. Estimated 30-40 eider nest on the island. Didn’t want to stay to long to stress the birds out. One nest in a nesting structure had chicks in it!! 😁
