My name is Mattia and I am an independent documentary photographer based in Berlin. The visual medium is for me a means of personal expression and communication, which I combine with my ethno-musicological academic background in order to document what I see and experience. My works explore the interactions involving people and communities, as well as their relaitonships with the surrounding enviro

Bio

I am an independent documentary photographer, born and bred in Perugia (IT), and currently based in London.

I moved to the UK in order to follow my two passions: photography and music. Since 2014, I work as freelance photographer (Mattimages) and as studio assistant. In London, I mainly shoot fashion, portraiture and sports, but my interests range from social and anthropological issues, to travel and architecture too.

On this regard, I use the visual medium as a mean of personal expression, as well as research methodology in the field of community development and social research. Since 2016, I have been following the unfolding of the European Migrant Crisis, working on the field in Idomeni (GR), Calais (FR) and Athens (GR).

Regardless on the assignment, my ideal shot is communicative, meaningful and impactuful. Nevertheless, I like to be creative and experimental, but always taking extra care for details, along the whole workflow. In short, my images reflect myself and my own point of view, combining my love for storytelling, light, shapes and colors.
