T.H.E. PT. 2

Ultimately, it doesn’t really matter where you come from, or what got you to the place where you were avoiding cars and busses whilst dancing in a circle with strangers around a busy square in the 18th Arr.

What matters the most is answering the question - what compelled you to jump in line, grab the shoulders of the stranger in front of you and start scream singing lyrics in french you barely understand and moving your feet like a madman?

Was it the fear of missing out on a possibly once in a lifetime experience? Or did you just want a cool story to tell your family and friends when you got home?

Even better yet, what compelled you to refrain from jumping in? Fear of judgement? Tiredness? A little bit of both? Or was it the fact that you got so caught up in the genuine experience of others that you just completely forgot to entertain the thought that you had 10 minutes ago that said, “Man, this looks like fun. I would love to be apart of this.”

And then before you know it the moment is gone, only echoed by the excited laughs of the guitar player outside of the bar. This man who, funny enough, had himself felt drawn to and compelled to sit there with his glass of white wine and a basket of bread in hopes that people would soon again dance and sing to the songs he procured.

There is a commonality of all of these people that either witnessed, joined or brought to life this little 1-block in Paris. It’s the fact that not only did they have an intersecting love of music, arts, travel and human connection. It’s the fact that all of these people acted on passion without thought and gave no second thoughts to the what if’s that may cloud our every day interactions.

If you ask me, it’s very caveman-esq…. “See people dancing. I like dancing. Fun. I join.”

And there is quite some beauty in that. Why let the what if’s and doubts ruin the important part you play in The Human Experience?

The Human Experience is something that l’ve been thinking a lot about recently.

And truthfully, if not thought about and purposefully sought after, is something that can be taken for granted or even go completely unnoticed.

What makes people tick? Why do people enjoy the things that they do? Why would someone rather dance while others get the thrill of being the one that is making them dance or sing, or even filming it? Why do beautiful sunsets make you smile ear to ear whilst making the woman next to you cry because it reminds her of that time her and her late husband enjoyed their last sunset together?

How can someone equally enjoy a sunny day whilst in the same breath, be excited for a rainy day indoors snuggled up on their couch reading a book? Why are some people more in tune with the wavelengths of the others around them, and what got them there? Where did they learn such empathy? Or were they born with it?

I’m not naive. I understand people have different interests and hobbies and it’s the events throughout it all that end up putting them down their own path - that breed cause into their own lives.

But that’s the human experience, innit? Everyone has their own set of circumstances that got them to where they are. And when you pay close attention and see all these individual souls come together and enjoy life where those experiences intersect, it is one of the most beautiful, surreal and sought after moments that I personally live for.

So pay attention friends, because beauty in the human life is around every corner.
