lüften [ˈlʏftn̩] german verb

the act of airing out the room, typically by opening a
window

the air is sticky, it’s about time to lüften. the last weeks I got locked in front of the desk, working, emails and all that. in the meantime summer has arrived and really needs to be welcomed. glad to do that with some major hiking in norway very, very soon.

once a year, when the sun is in the right spot and the trees are not yet full of leaves, it illuminates the rock formation at altschlossfelsen in the pfalz during sunset. the ‘felsenglühen’ itself is a beautiful phenomenon, but the location is spectacular on its own. the red sandstone sculptures feel like something you wouldn’t expect in germany. i personally loved the details especially when the light hit the structures.🏜️

high tides and hopes

slides from a trip to ireland in march with my lad . for this production, i returned to the aran islands: they still feel as real and raw as i remembered.
drystone walls, wind, open land and at the edge cliffs fall straight into the atlantic. even the light broke through for a few minutes. thankful I got to experience this.

there’s this pull. it takes me out of comfort and throws me into the raw again and again. all for a few minutes of light that make everything feel special and euphoric. and somehow that’s enough.

I’m excited to introduce the Canon EOS R6 Mark III as part of the campaign. This camera is a reliable beast, even in the cold, wet, and wind. When I’m fully immersed in those raw moments, I want to stay agile. The Dual Pixel autofocus holds on, and combined with the stabilization, I can just react, even when things get hectic.

wide meadows while peaks rise in the background… dwelling in this dream scenario from last year’s trip to georgia. once again i realized that camping is it for me… these trips just stick.

thanks to for equipping me for this trip and the ones to come. i’ve been using some of their gear for years, so i’m especially glad to now be partnering up.

living in spheres 🌐

in my photographic journey, i always felt drawn to explore abstract housing situations. these are 50 spherical houses located in maasport, the netherlands. they were built in 1984 and designed by artist dries kreijkamp in a neo-futuristic style. the spheres have a diameter of 5.5m and each has three main levels. next time, i’d love to see them from the inside… curious about the furniture 💭

Pulling the pulkka through Urho Kekkonen National Park for hours, day by day, from hut to hut with a great team of friends. At the end of an exhausting day, we celebrate the essentials: a warm drink, something to eat, and a piece of chocolate.

I’m very ready to embark another one like that.

bird hour.
shortly after the sun slips past the zenith, flocks beyond counting gather in the high trees for the night.

they put on this show for a few evenings in a row at the beginning of the year and I sincerely enjoyed it from the balcony. 🐦‍⬛
