I photographed Thao from Vietnam. She has been living in Germany for only three months and is currently doing an apprenticeship as a dental assistant.
As someone who also immigrated, I can tell you how brave she is. It’s always worth working hard for a better life and making big decisions.
We talked for a long time. She told me how she feels because in five days it’s New Year — and for the first time, she will spend it away from her family. That really touched me, because I know that feeling very well.
But Thao, you are strong. You will get through this journey and achieve the dreams you are chasing. I promise, it’s always worth it to follow your dreams and work hard for them — even if it means moving miles away from your family.
I truly admire your strength and pray that your dreams come true and that you overcome every obstacle you may face here.
