366//Days of Music: July 6

"I'm aware you didn't take that photo but somehow this ended up on top simply for summing up some of the closest and loveliest human beings I've known in my life. Ramadan is over and, while I didn't take this one, I've chosen to include it because it was Hany's choice for the Ramadan Reflections project, and because I love it just as much.

For the month of Ramadan I’ve chosen to do something special with the 366//Days of Music project. Rather than choose the images I like, I’ve asked some of the many musicians I’ve photographed over the years to choose their favorite image I’ve taken of them and tell me why.

“It’s always an honour and a pleasure to be photographed by Sallie. She mostly photographs the greats, the real musicians, the ones that toil away on stage to bring us some of the best music in the scene. And then there’s us, a couple of comedians disguised as musicians that sing funny lyrics and parodies. Her lens portrays us as awesome as the other legendary performers she captures so flawlessly, so seeing us in the same light is always a welcome act. This one in particular betrays how hard I’m concentrating to play and sing, clearly a sign of an amateur with no business being on stage yet still am despite that.
