Saw the reflection before I saw the driver.

Hago fotografía en blanco y negro de momentos reales.

No preparo escenas. No monto nada.

An experiment.
Just the work, a few countries, and an algorithm trying to guess who might care.
If this reached you and it got it right — tell me in the comments. Stick around.
Let’s see what it actually knows.

I’m Richard Peterson.
This is me, and some of my photos.

I never really wanted to be a photographer.
I don’t even fully see myself as one.

I just found myself paying attention to light, people, moments that don’t last.

Nothing big has really happened.
No clear direction.
No arrival.

Just time, and a lot of trying.

Some images stay.
Most don’t.

I’m still figuring out what this is.
But I know I enjoy doing it.

If something here resonates, stick around.
I’ll keep sharing what I see.

Not because I have it figured out. Not because I know where this is going. But because I don't know how to stop.
I've been photographing for years. Streets, buses, rain, faces I'll never see again. Places I didn't plan to visit but couldn't leave without a frame. I carry my camera the way some people carry a notebook — not to document, but to stay present. To notice things before they disappear.
Most of the time nobody is watching. And for a long time, that was fine.
But somewhere along the way something shifted. People started asking questions. How do you edit? How do you see? What are you looking for when you shoot?
I didn't have easy answers. I still don't. But I started paying attention to what I was actually doing — not just with the camera, but with the light, the shadows, the decision to push an image in one direction instead of another.
This year I published my first photobook. I built my first editing system. I started sharing the work more honestly.
And I realized something: the only way to find out if this can become a life is to keep going. To keep showing up. To keep posting until it works — or until I understand why it doesn't.
So if you don't mind, I'm going to keep posting.
Until I can make a living from it
