Last week, I travelled to Kos not for work, but simply to enjoy. Although for me, enjoying a destination will probably always include taking photos. Just at a different pace.

Kos turned out to be the perfect place for that. Slowing down, taking my time, and relaxing in between exploring ancient ruins, charming villages, hidden beaches, and endless sea views.

Sometimes the best travel memories aren’t about seeing as much as possible, but about giving yourself the time to truly experience a place.

When people think about wildlife photography, they usually think about the final image.

The lion.
The leopard.
The perfect wildlife encounter.

But behind every photo are hours of waiting, missed opportunities, early mornings and moments that never make it onto a memory card.

And honestly? That’s exactly what I love about it.

Over the years, wildlife photography has taught me far more than how to use a camera. It has taught me patience, curiosity and the importance of slowing down long enough to truly observe what’s happening around me.

In a world that constantly encourages us to move faster, wildlife photography does the opposite.

It asks you to slow down.
To pay attention.
To be present.

Which one resonates with you most?

If this kind of slow, intentional wildlife experience speaks to you, a few spots are still available for our women-only photography retreat with White Lion Travel & Retreats from 25 November to 2 December 2026 at MHONDORO SAFARI LODGE & VILLA . More information via the link in bio.

Utrecht quickly became one of my favourite cities in the Netherlands to photograph.

With its historic canals, charming streets and hidden corners, it’s a city that invites you to slow down, wander and explore.

During my visit, I spent hours getting lost in the city, discovering picturesque viewpoints, beautiful canal scenes and photogenic spots that made me stop and appreciate Utrecht a little longer.

Swipe to see my favorite photo spots in Istanbul.

Istanbul truly feels like a city made for photographers. From impressive mosques and colorful bazaars to hidden alleyways, rooftop views and countless little details. Every corner feels photogenic in its own way.

What I loved most is how the city constantly feels alive. One moment you’re wandering through historic streets filled with Ottoman architecture, the next you’re drinking Turkish coffee while watching ferries cross the Bosphorus.

The weather honestly wasn’t really on our side during this trip, but that definitely didn’t stop us from exploring the city. Rain or not, Istanbul completely stole my heart.

A little painful confession though… I also lost quite a few photos from this trip because I transferred them too quickly and not correctly. 🥲 Still sad about it because there were some images I absolutely loved in there.

Luckily Istanbul is one of those places that stays magical no matter the circumstances.

Blog about Istanbul is still in the making and coming soon-ish!

Wildlife Wednesday featuring one of Africa’s most misunderstood animals: the hyena.

Part of the so-called “Ugly 5”, but honestly… I find them incredibly fascinating. For the longest time I thought hyenas belonged to the dog family, but they actually belong to their own animal family called Hyaenidae and are more closely related to cats than dogs.

I also feel like they’ve gotten such a bad reputation through movies and stereotypes, while in reality they’re extremely intelligent, social and surprisingly efficient hunters. There’s something almost prehistoric and mysterious about them that makes seeing one in the wild feel really special.

I’ve only been lucky enough to spot hyenas twice so far, once in Welgevonden Game Reserve and once in Kapama Private Game Reserve. Both sightings happened either very early in the morning or around sunset, which somehow made the experience even more magical.

These photos were taken in  with . This hyena suddenly decided to take a little bath and it was honestly such a beautiful moment to witness and photograph.

Little photography confession though: I made the mistake of lowering my shutter speed too much to keep my ISO down… and not all photos turned out sharp. 😅 I was genuinely annoyed afterwards because moments like these happen so fast.

A good reminder once again that shutter speed is EVERYTHING in wildlife photography. Sometimes a bit more noise is far better than motion blur you can’t fix later.

What’s your opinion on hyenas?

Gozo might be Malta’s smaller sister island, but honestly… it completely stole my heart.

The island feels much quieter and more authentic than Malta, with dramatic cliffs, hidden coves, crystal clear water, charming villages and some of the most beautiful coastal landscapes in Europe.

It’s the kind of place where you slowly roadtrip from one viewpoint to another and constantly stop because everything looks unreal.

From iconic spots like Tal Mixta Cave and the Blue Hole to hidden gems like Wied Il-Għasri, Gozo is an absolute dream for photographers and nature lovers.
