Exploring the saunas around the Helsinki region ✨️

A bit of a different post today.

As many of you know, I’m a huge sauna enthusiast, especially when it comes to wood-heated and smoke saunas, and I swim in the sea all year round.
Last year alone, I went to the sauna 275 times.

A few years ago, we also founded an active international sauna community, so sauna is a social hobby for me as well. But above all, it’s my place to slow down, be offline, and reset in the middle of a hectic everyday life.

Recently I’ve been asked a lot for sauna tips in the Helsinki area and about my personal favourites. So here’s a list of saunas around Helsinki area that I think are easy to visit and worth recommending.

Note: This is not a complete list and not even of all my favourites. Some great saunas are harder to access and the full list would definitely be much longer.

🔥 Wood-heated & smoke saunas

Kulttuurisauna – Quiet, minimalist and ritual-like. Finnish–Japanese calm by the sea in Merihaka
Kotiharjun Sauna – A true classic. No trends, no extras, just proper löyly in the heart of Kallio.
Uusi Sauna – Modern neighbourhood sauna with great drinks and food in Jätkäsaari
Lonnan Sauna – My absolute summer favourite. Island sauna vibes, gentle heat and refreshing sea swims.
