My addiction to photography stared in 2011, having both dad and my grandmother classically trained photographers in the film camera era did give me the basic knowledge and guidance to start exploring the wonderful world of photography with the twist of digital cameras stepping out of their comfort zones. Recently I have been involved with organising a couple weddings and i have fell back into my l

ove for being behind the lens. Knowing that I wanted to give this a good bloody crack I invested in a new camera setup and started a Dip. of Digital Photography to guide my learning and development further.

Getting around Japan you will absolutely not be able to avoid finding a heap of sometimes massive, sometimes tiny Shinto shrines. You will always find a mass of O-mikuji at these Buddhist temples. O-mikuji are random fortunes written on strips of paper, most of the ones you find left at the shrine are bad fortunes, so it is hoped the fortune will not attach itself to the beholder. Yet, some are good fortunes left behind by their owner in a attempt that that fortune can have a greater impact on the other visitors which is really nice.

Nothing opens in Japan before 10am, best time for tourists to be able to capture places not packed with another million people!
We were out and about at 9am one day and stumbled upon Tokyo Botanical Gardens and found ourselves in a wonder world of Japanese gardens and greenhouses. It was beautifully managed and organized as one would expect here.

Most Climb Mt Fuji to watch the beautiful sun rise over the continent, but I was secretly really looking forward to seeing the sun shoot a mountainous shadow over the western side of Japan. The dark side of Fuji (which would be a sweet name for a Japanese band) was a sight to behold. LOVE this place and country. Have any questions about Japan? I'm happy to rave about this place at any given moment haha.

Sitting atop the clouds for a well deserved rest break, one can never get sick of the view just sick of climbing haha.
We are at an approx elevation of 2900m above sea level. Your starting to feel the warning signs of altitude sickness, light headache behind the eyes and a dash of dizziness, but with our machine of a guide pointing out the direction of the Tokyo Sky Tree right through the clouds, he helps us avoid feeling any worse with these rest stops, water and snacks to bump that sugar up.
Wouldn't have made it to the top without him, these guides lap the climb up and down as much as 3 times a week. That's 10km vertical up and down a week ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜ฎ. The real MVP on this volcano.

Congrats to Patrick Skippen for guessing the location of my previous post featuring the same little dragonfly as this one!
Location: Hiroshima, featuring the A-bomb dome @ Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park.

Here concluded the end of WW2, where the USA (with consent of the UK) decided it to be a worthwhile attempt to crush their opponent via the instant killing of 80 000 people with tens of thousands to die in the aftermath.
Very somber place to visit, to see first hand the remains of the worst decision made (IMO).
Whilst visiting Vietnam a few years ago, it was very obvious that the Americans were still very much viewed as the enemy. I expected the same to be shown in Japan, but the sentiment was never the same. The only thing we saw was the plea for world peace and kindness. Beautiful thoughts surrounded the most horrific scene I've ever laid my eyes on.
Be like Japan, be kind and courteous, anyone you know who has visited will no doubt tell you how helpful and respectful the Japanese people are.

Tori Gatesโ›ฉ๏ธ๐Ÿ•ญ๐Ÿ•ญ typically are used as an entrance feature to Shinto Shrines but some places of worship are a little larger like Mt Fuji itself. Mt Fuji is called a shintai-zan, which means it is believed to house a kami (sprit of shinto).โ›ฉ๏ธ๐Ÿ•ญ๐Ÿ•ญ

Japan! Will be the focus of my next series of posts and photos . I bought a new camera body just for traveling in an attempt to cut weight which can really make a difference, the canon M5 is a fantastic companion, if anyone would like to know more about traveling with a camera like this one shoot me a DM.

Now to the shot of the day! Took me a very long time to find this location searching the web, got a couple bum steers that thank god google street view confirmed were wrong haha.
This one is a bucket list shot of mine! I'm so happy that we not only found it but we had rare very clear weather of the summit. taken in the city of Fujiyoshida where we stayed the night after our hike to the summit of Mt Fuji.

Sometimes it's nice to feel tiny and insignificant in the grand scheme of things, mountains have that special feel and I think that's why I'm always drawn to them.

If you like the shot, give it a share please ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ™‚

Insert nice quote here- โ€œClimb the mountain not to plant your flag, but to embrace the challenge, enjoy the air and behold the view. Climb it so you can see the world, not so the world can see you.โ€ โ€• David McCullough Jr.

Another one from Fiji!! Do caravans annoy you on the roads? Maybe Hermits are the shellfish equivalent. Just as slow and unable to get anywhere fast ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ This guy took a bit of convincing to pose for a photo but we got there in the end!

Finally had some time to look into some photos from our Fiji trip!! Kayla was obsessed with these tiny little guys that were either waving at us or attempting to threaten us with their "strong claw". Made a little loop video I thought was a good idea. I hope you like it!
